It does give off that feeling, doesn't it? Maybe Carver is the down-to-earth sibling that's cool with just killing some fools and drinking at the pub with his friends, as opposed to saving the continent from the brink of war.

I want to mention something that occurred to me while I was eating buffalo wings.



Varric tells the story of DA2, the early parts of which are the only time we're seen Carver. We all know Varric's twisting the tale a little bit here and there... This suggests Carver (son of a mage and noble) is coming off as a few sandwiches short of a picnic because Varric wants it that way. I suspect Varric is jealous of Carver, probably because Carver has what appears to be easily managed hair coupled with height and, well, a proportional anatomical structure.

I think we can futher infer that, by evidence of Hawkette doing things no mortal can, Varric's take reveals him to be powerfully  in love with Hawkette and perhaps Hawke as well.

Carver looks like a paedophile. I'll let him die and try to fulfil my Hawke's quest of killing Bethany too and the mother as well. Then my Hawke will find his father: Duncan. Well his body at least and we get to wear his armor.
