There's another truth here.  Carver is the friend you always give a ton of crap to, but when other people rag on them, it's smackin' time.

Carver is DA2's Sandal.

The reason there isn't a Blight in DA2 is because Carver is thinking about so many things at once that it creates a psionic field that incinerates any Darkspawn that comes within range.

Carver will be the breakout action hero for DA2, mark my words. He'll get his own anime short that's so bloody and filled with death it makes Ninja Scroll look like a Naruto episode.
