Yep, Carver and Aveline are mine. The family dynamic was a lot of fun to work with. Cassandra was primarily Dave.

I don't think it's the Silver Order's armor, if only because they are optional and they wouldn't create an armor for a variation of a player choice in Awakening.

The recent turnaround in opinion regarding Carver prompted me to write this travesty. It's your own fault, really.





Aveline gently took hold of Hawke’s chin and turned her head from side to side. If Marian Hawke objected to this inspection, she did not complain; instead, her blank stare was fixed on nothing, her expression devoid of all emotion.

“She’s totally catatonic,” Aveline said, shaking her head in dismay. “I’ve never seen the like. What in the Maker’s name could have done this to her?”

Isabela stood nearby, a hand clasped over her own face in shame.

“It was all my fault, Aveline,” she began. “I happened to be seated by the exercise yard to, uh, watch the templars as they trained. Hawke happened to pass by and decided to join me.”

Aveline’s brow furrowed in confusion. “Yes? So what’s wrong with that?”

Isabela turned away, as though she could not bear the sight of Marian’s vacant stare any longer.

“We were seated on the wall, at an angle from the yard. The sun was shining and I couldn’t see … ”

“Go on,” Aveline urged.

“I … I pointed out this muscular fellow in the middle of the courtyard who was training with a greatsword. He was exercising quite heavily and his skin was glistening in the light … His back was to me and it was hard to see … Maker forgive me, I shouldn’t have said anything.”

A sinking feeling had begun to form in the pit of Aveline’s stomach, but she said nothing.

Isabela’s voice was breaking. “Poor Marian … she said he seemed quite handsome … And then he turned around …”

It was too much. “For the love of the Maker, who was it, Isabela?!” Aveline shouted.

“Good day to you, ladies!” Carver interrupted, entering the room. Although he was clothed, Aveline could see that he had just been engaged in some heavy physical exertion; his face was red, and his hair was mussed and sweaty.

Carver’s cheerful look quickly faded into a look of concern. “Umm, Aveline … what’s wrong with Marian?”

Aveline looked at Carver and then back at Hawke, whose hands were now clasped over her eyes as she moaned in pain.

“Oh dear,” Aveline said.

I am.. shocked to see how much more love Carver has gotten in the past couple of days.  And also greatly amused by the string of wincest attacks taking place. Go Carver! He gets all the ladies.

Speaking of which, I wonder how Carver and Bethany's lives will change over the years? I remember in a preview during that whole outbreak of information that it was said a sibling could compete with you for your LI. Carver crushing on Merril would be... too cute. I wouldn't be able to take it. I would actually cry blood.

I wonder: would she return the affection, or yammer on about their differeneces, begining with her being Dalish (didn't stop Margaret Mahariel from being with Alistair:?)

But if Bethany so much as thinks about glancing at Fenris/Varric/Mage Dude/LI potential/etc., I'm drawing the line. Qunari invasion or no, I will go Predator/Ape/FenrisTableSmack/MadCow/Jack/SomethingHorrifing/etc. on her.

We don't know much about their character, but for now I find this idea adorable. I think I wouldn't be able to compete with Carver for Merrill as a male mage Hawke.

your probably not allowed to answer this question, but i thought i might ask anyway on the off chance you are. i was wondering if carver treats you any differently depending on your gender? such as is he more protective of a female hawke or more biosterous/manly-manly kind of atmosphere with a male hawke or is it more or less the same for both genders?

I was thinking that it might be like Fallout 3, Dad's skin and hair only changed, not the facial features....at least, that's what I think  is going to happen.

Been away from the forum for a while but I was hoping that something new on Carver would have come out by now. Hang in the Carver, I know we'll get to see you soon. I´ll play several Hawkes so that I´ll get to see the story with both Bethany and Carver but little brother comes first.

Since it takes place over quite some time it isn't unreasonable for you sibling to get together with someone. Just pondering a bit.

I'd actually be disappointed if Carver (or Bethany) doesn't show ANY interest in anyone other the course of ten years. If I can't romance Merrill as a girl, then it'd be cute for Carver to go for her, but if not a party member, then an NPC for your sibling would make sense. Just to show they have a life outside of what big sis/big bro says.

My understanding is that Carver and Bethany will change their faces based on what preset base face you pick from the character creator and what skin color you pick. There are a limited number of "face sets" for Bethany and Carver. The black haired beauties in all the previews are the "set" of siblings you get with either of the default Hawkes. But this system is liable to change before release.
