Not that there's anything wrong with Bethany, but as someone who's had an IRL sister her whole life, I was just looking forward to tearing up Kirkwall with a virtual brother.
I always play female rogues first time around, however, so Carver'll be a bit squished in my first playthrough. I'll make up for it with my second - I'll roll a mage!Hawke that'll be the bestest big brother in Thedas.

(Not sure if it's exactly good news, but still news; I just wanted to do Farnsworth impression.)
According to some other thread I am too lazy to search for, there are a list of preset facial structures that you may choose from when you are customizing Hawke, Carver and Bethany's facial structure will change to the according structure you choose, so that they may look related to you!....I think.
DIALOG TIMEZ!!
Note: Most of the dialog is from the expansion pack of Dragon Age: Origins: Awakening.
Extra Note: In my mind, Carver WILL be alongside with my rogue!!
Margaret Hawke and her three companions (Carver, Fenris, and Varric) are traveling near the border of the Free Marches, a couple miles away from entering Fereldan. Varric and Hawke are walking up ahead, bickering about the directions. As the two rogues argue, Carver (in his bordom) crafts an idea, and shares with Fenris.
Carver: Soo Fenris....
Fenris: (sigh) I swear, Carver. If you ask me to play I Spy one more time, I'm going to---
Carver: No, no! It's not that. I was just wondering....
Fenris: Wondering what?
Carver: Do you happen to be familiar with the name of "schleets"?
Fenris:....schleets?
Carver: You don't? Good thing I brought it up then!
Fenris: Why is that?
Carver: The schleets are dangerous, you see. They catch their prey using camoflage, laying on the ground and disguising themselves as an ordinary pair of trousers. But when you turn around....
Fenris: Yes? Why did you pause?
Carver: To build suspense, anyways. When you turn, they strike, gruesomely devouring your eyeballs, then proceeding to---
Fenris: How absurd. I may have lost my memory, but I am not a simpleton!
Carver: How drull; here I was trying to lighten the mood, but you go and kill it!
A pair of traveling knights, newly stationed at the arling of Amaranthine, snicker as they pass the quartet of an odd company, on their way to Vigil's Keep.
The near future: at Vigil's Keep in Amaranthine.
Mahariel: Oghren--
Oghren: (shrieks) BAH! W-who's there!?
Mahariel: Did I startle you?
Oghren: I-I was just keeping my nose to the dust....looking out for the schleets.
Mahariel: By the Creators-- Schleets?
Oghren: One of the boys told me about them, told me they're common in Fereldan.
They lie on the ground, looking like an ordinary pair of pants, but when you turn, that's when--when they strike!
Mahariel: Pants.

This is true. I read the same thread last night, but I can't remember which thread it was!
You can customize whatever preset face you get, but Carver and Bethany will be based on the "base look" of the preset you pick.
