Really don't know why I got so attached to Carver, we haven't got to much info on either him or Bethany but there it is =) first play will be played with a previous game of a mage that made the ultimate sacrifice. I'm wondering how that might impact life for the mage F!Hawke. That also means I get to run around the world with Carver so yay! Bethany get's the second game =)
So hyped for the game =)

@Joe: So in reality, would Carver prefer to have his brain smashed by an ogre, or pulled out by Bethany?
You should ask doctor Frankenstein.

Of course I remember! Shiny elves and little brothers sort of...side tracked me from dwarven awesomeness. But I still totally support Varric!TriviaAeducan wrote...
Carver is awesome... I wanna see how he reacts to my romances! But I hardly play a mage so... I'm a 95% rogue... :sulks:

IT'S DIALOG TIMEZ!
Note: Fem!Hawke is named Margaret (duh.)
Carver and Varric are strolling the streets of Kirkwall, making their way to Varric's home for a meeting with a weapons dealer when Varric decides to make small talk.
Varric: You know, Carver, among one of my many philosophies, my favorite would be "Love Thy Neighbor".
The pair stop infront of Varric's home, and Carver casually glances at the building next to Varric's. His face twists into a look of horror as he reads the sign that is posted infront of the neighboring building "Sassy Nugs With Jugs".
Carver: B-but you live right next to.....a b-brothel!
Varric: (looks at the building next to his own, his lips curling into a nefarious smirk) So I do, young Carver! Maybe I should aquaint you with the residents? They are quite homey--
Carver: (frantically runs from Varric, arms flailing and in the air) MAAARGAARET!!

That was really cute Margaret
At least we got some videotime of Carver in devs diary part 2 or what it was called =) but now I would love some more info. Who was it that wrote Carver again? I've forgotten that, perhaps there are some bribes that could lure said writer to come forth with little snippets of info =) that would be fun

Hawke: Hey Carver, mind escorting this kid to his mother in the forest?
Carver:
Hawke: So?
Carver: Errmm...I....errr, I...sure.
******
Later on...
Mother: You! You! YOU TOUCHED MY BOY!
Hawke: WHAT DID YOU DO! *Draws sword*
Carver: NO BROTHER! PLEASE!

Hawke: I'm sorry brother, you must die...

I also liked that we saw Carver in there. It got me thinking though. He sounded a little perturbed that they were running from Templars because of Hawke. I'm wondering if he'll get so jaded that he betrays Hawke. It would be interesting if how you treated Carver influenced whether or not he betrays the PC.
The way Hawke treated Carver in that scene was a little interesting too. It could very well be that one of your final fights is against the sibling you've been min/maxing the whole game.

If I had to cover for my brother all the time I guess I would snap a bit at it sometimes. Not meaning that I don't love him, just that it is stressful.
Edit: looked through this tread and it's Lukas Kristjanson that wrote Carver and Bethany, unless I'm completely of.... Carver has had a lot of fighter training...where did he get it? Is that ok to ask?

I guess that if your dad and two siblings are mages you're pretty used to the situation, it could perhaps just be stress or one of those things that you say. You can sometimes be a bit more angry, say things that are hurtful to those that you love, just because you know them so well. Gahh...it's just theories.. it would be great to have a character page for Carver and just to know what drives him =)

Yes, I always thought that the comment was made out of stress and frustration, too. A character page would be great.

Does anyone know how Carver can be saved? I want him on my party permanently.
I think Carver is only spared if your Hawke is a mage. Otherwise you get Bethany. It would be cool to have both of them, but I don't think that's going to be possible.

Being able to have Carver tag along is one of the reasons for me playing a mage for the first game. *sigh* I just wished that we knew if he will be able to stay around and help F!Hawke/M!Hawke or if he will continue a more separate life in Kirkwall. Ohh well, guess my F!Hawke can have him over for family dinner on sundays if he want to do his own thing
