I notice that Carver is a party member in the new GI Informer preview -- which would appear to be confirmation that the sibling companion can stick around at least a fair bit beyond the prologue. At least long enough to run into Varric and Anders and take a trip down to some lost thaig or other.
I noticed it as well. Good news, I think.

After the latest vid, I actually think Carver doesn't look that derpish at all. Am I alone it this? He is actually kinda cute, I always wanted a cute younger brother
You should watch the latest Dev Diary.

It would be better if the joke did not come out of being misinformed and plain perfectionist about the appearances of game models.

Well, damn. Even with the latest companion's (and possible "token male human LI") reveal Carver is still the best looking human male companion. It's just... unfair.
IKR? I wasn't expecting much after DAO had Alastair

He's a side human male in a Bioware game. I'd get used to it, or pray he doesn't have any meme-worthy dialogue.
And I have no doubt that many people will be unable to get those early derp screens out of their heads and will preemptively write Carver off...
...until they start the game with a custom Hawke and wonder who that suave looking dude with the sword is. Custom race Carvers look awesome and instantly lose the baggage.

Amen, sister!
Well, to be fair, recently revealed human male companion in Awakening seemed like some weird Alistair-Zevran clone. Alistair-like in looks (I seriously thought that they were brothers at first), and Zevran-like in personality. In new art style he doesn't look like Alistair, though. So there goes one of his biggest redeeming qualities, lol.
--- spoiler ---
Even with addition of Justice, whom I really liked in add-on, I seriously doubt that writers will completely ditch Anders' annoying personality. I would be pleasantly surprised if he'd be fully possessed by Justice spirit though.
- end spoiler -
So, back on topic — I really don't get people who persist with Herp-derp jokes. It was funny at first, but now it became an equivalent of Chuck Norris facts.

Am I in the minority that took a look at Default Carver and went "Tsk...sibling :("?
But am definitely looking forward to see custom-influenced Carvers if they're gonna be as awesome as you say

I'm fond of both of those characters, so I'll take it as a good sign. Ah, decisions. I want to have Carver in my party, but I'd rather not play a mage first.

As a (the) major contributor to the 'Derp' meme with Carver in this thread, I just want to say Thank you. I really do appreciate all the work that goes into writing games with the depth and richness that Bioware is known for. I realize that Carver is probably nothing at all like we've (I've) portrayed him in this thread, and I apologize if it ruffled any feathers, but I hope you understand it was only in jest and enthusiasm.
Of course, I'm not going to stop, derping Carver or anything. Maker, no! But people can be suprisingly, sensetive sometimes. And though I'm pretty sure the fun we (I) have had with Carver, has been taken with the proper amount of levity amongst the BW staff, I just wanted make sure of it. Afterall, we are all guilty of Derping much more frequently than any of us are willing to publicly admit (me most of all if one were to ask my siblings).
Also: I know it's probably, too late, but can you please, please, please put a derp joke for Carver in there somewhere?! Please?!

ManHawke: C'mon Carver, let's be friends!
Carver: You're my older brother. It's natural for us to hate each other... a little.
ManHawke: It doesn't have to be that way. We're not kids any more.
Carver: ....maybe you're right.
ManHawke: ..... ...........*tweaks Carver's nose*

Fixed that for you.
Anyhoo, I'm really looking forward to seeing how the sibling relationships play out. Carver's one of the characters I'm most interested in meeting. So much so that I'm going mage on my first play through instead of rogue (my usual). ...Sorry, Beth.

I'd love to be able to give him noogies and pats on the head and other patronizing big sibling stuff.

I am finally playing the Star Wars series, and now I can finally appreciate the might glory of everyone's favorite Pazaak player!<3Arteziya wrote...
Huh, so he really kinda looks like Atton, at least with default presets. That explains my fondness of him!
It's probably geoing to be harder to be his friend for me. In all the RPGs I've played, there was never the possibilty that being completely nice and polite would be considered boot-licking, so it could be fun; a new chance to explore more dialog options. Besides: I was always getting into spats with my brother and sister...only because I was trying to break up a spat of theirs, and then they'd accuse me of choosing sides sometimes. Go middle-child Margaret!

Carver looks gorgeous there.
The Hawkes must have good genes (as least as far as the default family goes). Bethany is very pretty, Garrett and Marian are hotties (and I am planning on making my Hawkette a looker as well, more so than Bethany, hopefully I'll be able to pull it off) . From the few pictures I've seen of Leandra, she too looks stunning.

If it's any consolation, having finally played through ME1 I find myself quite in love it Kaidan, and I didn't expect that, having started with ME2.
And Jacob has what is probably THE most memorable line (for me) in either ME1 or ME2: "You know what they say about good deeds being like peeing* yourself in dark pants - you get a warm feeling but nobody notices." I giggle ever single time.
But this is the Carver thread and that totally wasn't about Carver. Apologies.
*not the actual word he used
Edit: LOOOOOVE the 'Carver disapproves -150' fanart! Being elder sister to several brothers and all.
