Probably one of these:

1) Varric made it up.
2) Carver found it somewhere.
3) That's not the Grey Warden crest, but it looks similar.
4) Carver ACTUALLY IS A GREY WARDEN and Duncan forgot about him.

@Aimo Great art! I love it, thanks for sharing! It makes me even more eager to see if Carver gets along with Varric in-game. Though, in a way, it would make me kind of jealous...  I'm supposed to be his big brother, so why is Carver looking up (down?) to Varric instead? That should be me (er, I mean, manHawke) having epic battles with Carver!

Watch, Carver and Varric will probably hate each other.... "I don't have to listen to you, dwarf. I get enough of that from Hawke." In any case, I'm sure they'll have great interactions!

You left out the most obvious:



Carver becomes a GW at some point.



I have noticed in the Varric's exaggerations scenario - every character assumes their 'ultimate' appearance. Hawke is always rocking his signature armor [which he probably doesn't recieve until toward the end of the game.] and everyone else is decked out.



While we know we can upgrade our companions equipment -



I'd guess this is the best armor we can upgrade Carver's street clothes to. I doubt he becomes a GW through the story, but its certainly possible.

That would be.... AMAZING. His home was destroyed by Darkspawn, so it would make sense for Carver to eventually go off and join the Grey Warden order.

It's much better than my other theory... For some reason, I'm afraid that Carver will become a Templar. Crazy, right? But, I dunno... For some reason, I can't rule out that possibility. And it scares me.

 So, I finally got my younger brother to watch some trailers and read some stuff about DA2, and he told me that if I didn't 'save' Carver on my first playthrough, he was going to shank me. Gotta love family!

Hey fellow Carver fans! I was making a 'DA2 Party' banner and that included making one for Carver, so I decided to make a few variations to post here if anyone wants them.







Unfortunately, I didn't have a lot to go on as far as quotes.. Maybe I'll update it with something catchier once we know more of his lines.

Was thinking about that bit with Carver when he complains that they are trying to avoid the templars because of OlderHawke. I get the feeling that since your Hawke being a mage if you have Carver your main argument will be about you being mage. Is that to easy? How do you build up a friend or rivalry path on that? Hm....

I don't know. I see a lot of people suggesting that Bethany will be pro-Mage and Carver will be pro-Templar, but that just doesn't make sense to me. I don't understand why Carver would dislike apostates if his twin sister, his father, and possibly his older sibling were all apostate mages, just because he isn't. He's grown up with apostates. Some of the closest people to him are apostates. Unless he's got a serious chip on his shoulder for being left out of the 'family business' so to speak, it doesn't make sense for him to begrudge mages.

Volatile teenage apostates, remember Wynne and the barn fire, now imagine that with sibling arguments, maybe Carver's hamster got toasted or something.
