Carver sounds just like Ser Gilmore. Who was the voice actor for that character ?
I don't hear it. I just re-played the noble origin a few days ago and Gilmore has a much deeper voice, though they share that sort of guttural, muted thing. I dunno, after hearing Nicholas Hoult in Fable 3 it just sounds SO close. Ah well, I guess we'll see once the game comes out. I'm sort of hoping it's Hoult - he almost made Elliot tolerable in Fable and he has great acting chops.

Has there been a confirmation on Carver's VA? He sounds amazingly like Nicholas Hoult, actor and he voiced Elliot from Fable 3. The similarities are very striking.
How hilarious would it be if they got Kaya Scodelario to do Bethany?

Be that dead Bethany? Me thinks so.
Yes, it is. The scene is very sad to watch.

[smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/lol.png[/smilie] I love it! It looks like this bicep comparing contest is about to evolve into a boxing match. And I'd like to put my money on Carver, but I just watched Aveline punch out a darkspawn with her bare hands, so...
Also, I looked up the HN origin on youtube so I could reacquaint myself with what Ser Gilmore sounds like. It's close, but I'm not sold that it's him. Of course, he's a voice actor, maybe he's tweaked his voice a bit for a new character. I tried to look up Elliot from Fable 3 too, but I couldn't find a good vid of him to compare Carver's voice with. My youtube-foo is weak.

Honestly, Carver seems far too whiny. All he does is complain. Some people said Alistair complained to much and was too whiny, at least he didn't do it alll the time and was cracking jokes. It seems all Carver does is complain and argue with everyone.
"All he does is complain", "all the time", "it seems all Carver does is complain and argue with everyone" - you can judge his character and his whole behaviour after a few lines from a twenty minute preview of a demo?

Edit - Or at least, I thought it was. Been a while.
@ Zarok, a lot of people seem to think so, but we've seen very little of Carver so far and heard even less (though I guess that goes for all the companions). I'm banking on the idea that there's more to him.

Well there was the demo and the other video that was released earlier of him complaining to a mage Hawke character about them running from the Templar’s that are after Hawke. In the videos we've seen of Carver so far, he's always complaining about something.

To quote Carver, they've been running since Ostagar and they've been fighting darkspawn all the way. He lost his sister. I'm sure it is more a matter of strained nerves, stress and exhaustion than Carver being "whiny" all the time.

I'd suggest waiting until you have a more... solid chunk of the game to look at before making assumptions on characterization. He could be a complete badass the rest of the game, having lost his emotions over the intervening years, and CARVE his way through hordes of darkspawn without a second glance, and we have no idea. Feel free to assume, but Don't expect a lot of support on a thread dedicated to the character.ZaroktheImmortal wrote...

Actually in the demo that was before any of the siblings died. It being a Warrior character it'll actually be him dying. Also he seems to be arguing with his sister Bethany. In fact I can't recall any of his dialogue that we've seen so far that isn't either complaining about something or arguing with someone. But I guess we'll have to see the full game to know for certain.

Honestly, if someone isn't inhumanly stoic and completly uneffected by a bad string of events, they're a whiner. Or emo. Lose your house, friends, and everything you've known your entire life in the matter of weeks, then being in a strange land where your elder brother/sister is being hunted by armed religious followers, then we'll see how well you deal with that.

I was referring to the other video you mentioned; the one where Carver and Hawke talk in Kirkwall and which is definitely after Bethany died.
We'll have to agree to disagree then but yes, waiting for the full game before judging a character is indeed a good idea.

I agree - it does seem that way which, I think, is very unfortunate. How are characters supposed to develop if they are not allowed to show emotions because if they do they are, apparently, "whiny."

As for Carver being whiny??? No way. I don't get that vibe at all. Sometimes, I think people need a character to hate on, so they pick one and claim that they are "whiny" when they aren't. I never thought Alistair or Kaidan was whiny. Yet, some people are so adamant that they are; it truly puzzles me.

It puzzles me as well, especially when we know so little yet.
Anyway, have another screenshot of the Hawke siblings:

I don't think we have any age info, but my guess would be the twins are at least 3 years younger than Hawke. That's how it looks to me, anyway.yoshibb wrote...
I like having a brother, so looks like I'm going with a mage first. From what I've seen, he kind of reminds me of my little brother. Any idea what the ages of Hawke's family are?
@ZaroktheImmortal: There's a big difference between being argumentative and being whiny. Carver obviously deals with stress by getting angry and short with people, whereas Bethany seems to be more prone to worry. But like others have said, we haven't seen enough yet to tell either way. People can change a lot in ten years.
