Trust me, TLE, when I say that he does more than good outside of the legend. He saved my FemHawke's puny mage as- ... behind a dozen times over.
Goodness knows I'm gonna need me some of that.
MageFemHawke(Under the Control of a Warrior-Player-Mindset): "Rawr!" *charges darkspawn horde"
Darkspawn Horde: *surrounds MFHUtCoaWPM, menacing* "Grr."
MFHUtCoaWPM: "Uhh... crud."
Carver: "Oh, wtf, not again..."
Carver: *saves MFHUtCoaWPM in an dramatic but practical fashion*
MFHUtCoaWPM: "That worked out well. We make such a great team."
Carver: *mutter*
MFHUtCoaWPM: "Oh, look, badguys!" *charge!*

Carver: *disapproves -10* <_<
Heh, you're the best, Fire! It's no wonder Carver starts off further down the rivalry path.

Now looking at the armour set he's wearing in the exaggerated scene, the shoulder plates greatly reminded me of football shoulder pads. (Makes Carver look even more glorious, though
And those new Carver banners look pretty cool, Aris!

I, for one, am glad the pauldrons changed. DAO ones were ridiculous. Y U HAVE ASYMMETRICAL PAULDRONS IF U NO JOUSTING?! Lol.
True, they looked ridiculous. But I liked them aesthetically.
But the ones that Carver has looked like padded shoulder pads. I'm expecting Carver as a warrior to charge at that poor darkspawn yelling, "I... AM... NOT... DERP!!" SLASH!

It's okay, Carver. If they insist on saying derp at you, point out that it's in your genes:

But you know what happens when someone says that word.

P.S.: Margaret? Can I please request changing the Hawke family picture in the OP to this one:

Pretty please?

I like Carver, strong, proud, with a strong personality. He has great style, in armor.
It's really a shame to sacrifice one of our family members. :'(

I don't care what his shirt looks like, it'd be a crime to cover up those biceps. I demand equal-opportunity, inappropriate ogling.
This. I thought this thread would be much more full of bicep-fancying n00bs wandering in saying "hey, I used to think Carver was a total derp but I watched the demo vids and he is like totally a hunk". Totally!

Carver needs some facial hair. I think that would make him a lot less herp derp.
For some reason I can only imagine Carver's facial hair being really thin and patchy and the one time he tried to grow it out everyone made fun of him and he shaved it all off in an ashamed rage.
It's ok Carver, you look just fine clean-shaven.

LOL, aww. I don't know about thin and patchy, but I imagine Lady Hawke and Bethany (and Mom Hawke) giving him an unbelievably hard time about him trying to grow a beard regardless. Lots of embarrassing "My little baby boy is growing up!" from the mom and teasing from the sisters.
I personally prefer him clean-shaven; that's how I like my men. Clean-shaven, and with toned sexy arms. No wonder I think Carver is so handsome.
But the real question is, what would Papa Hawke think of a beard?

Hear, hear! Although I do have a soft spot for MHawke's beard (trailer version moreso than in game). That being said, I think Papa Hawke would approve of beards as long as they were well-groomed. MHawke's beard would do daddy proud. Somebody needs to add some of those sparklies onto it.

My only
evidence is supposition and I am probably overthinking this. If
Varric's exaggerated story in the prologue is supposed to be what people
think of when they think of Hawke, it doesn't make sense that Carver
would be there cutting darkspawn in half right beside his older
brother/sister if they are on opposing sides. I might be reading too
much into this, but I think that no matter what happens in between, by
the end we will have a brother standing beside us.
That's true. Unless your sibling is on your side in the beginning and during the first part of your rise to fame, and then is on the opposing side at the end. People would exaggerate the Hawke family exploits, and then probably the events that took place to break them apart. But I like your optimism. I'm sure if it's possible for your sibling to betray you, the alternate course is also possible. All that remains is to see what happens when you start making choices. I'm not going to butter up my brother by knowingly pushing for the frienship path, I'm just going to cross my fingers, make my decisions, and hope it works out. At least the first time around.

In my mind, twisted as it is, DadHawke has a beard. It is a thing of pure, manly beauty. So finely groomed is it, that songbirds try to make a nest within the folds of it's softness. However DadHawke is very protective of his beard, so BAM! Instant fried chicken for the children.
Maybe it has beads? Maybe it has braids in it, or it is just so perfectly smooth and awesome that it needs no adornment? How can Carver live up to such a hairy legacy, how can anyone? I'm sure Garrett tries, and to the rest of Thedas it is a beard worthy of praise.. but the Papa Hawke's beard is somethign else entirely.
I realize now that I'm gradually building Papa Hawke up into some kind of amazingly handsome apostate mage.

Oooo! I like it! But, to be completely fair, I'm pretty sure that I would love Carver no matter how much or little facial hair he decided to grow...
