Very true. Personally I love stubble on men (especially men with dark hair), but it really depends on the man in question. I think Carver looks best clean-shaven, it adds to his boyishness. Which he may or may not resent, actually. Poor Carver, always the 'little brother'.KawaiiKatie wrote...
Oooo! I like it! But, to be completely fair, I'm pretty sure that I would love Carver no matter how much or little facial hair he decided to grow...

In my mind, twisted as it is, DadHawke has a beard. It is a thing of pure, manly beauty. So finely groomed is it, that songbirds try to make a nest within the folds of it's softness. However DadHawke is very protective of his beard, so BAM! Instant fried chicken for the children.
Maybe it has beads? Maybe it has braids in it, or it is just so perfectly smooth and awesome that it needs no adornment? How can Carver live up to such a hairy legacy, how can anyone? I'm sure Garrett tries, and to the rest of Thedas it is a beard worthy of praise.. but the Papa Hawke's beard is somethign else entirely.
I realize now that I'm gradually building Papa Hawke up into some kind of amazingly handsome apostate mage. The reality can only be disappointing from that!
Oh my. No wonder we don't know what Papa Hawke looks like. To gaze upon such a beard would surely be like staring at the sun for too long. It makes complete sense. It must be why Mama Hawke chose to leave Kirkwall and her noble family to risk staying with an apostate. You couldn't break it off with a beard like that. ...I mean, a man. A man like that.
A 5 o'clock shadow for Carver? Hmmm. I like it, but I like clean-shaven more. It makes him look younger, and he is supposed to be the little brother. I mean, he's already got the arms to squeeze water out of a rock!

No....He's just gone from "herp-derp" to "beardy-weirdy"
Edit: Not that I think he's still derpy, I just think the stubble is not a good look for him. I really just needed an excuse to call him "beardy weirdy".

Papa Hawke is a man of legends.
He would only stand for the most well-groomed of beards, and there would certainly be no crazy-old-man-wizard beards like Dumbledore. Only the most fabulously stylish of facial hair for Papa Hawke, and he would certainly pass along this wisdom to his children.

I like the stubble. But I'm a guy so what do I know. That + a less derpy hairstyle and he'd look awesome.
But his hairstyle is so cutely similar to that of his big sister when you choose the default Fem!Hawke!

We've already theorized that those two fixing their hair is the reason the Hawkes waited so long before fleeing Lothering.
MamaHawke: Get out of the bathroom! We have to run!
Carver: Just a minute more!
Ladyhawke: I can't find my comb! This day could not get any worse!
Bethany: Maker help us--the Darkspawn are swarming our lawn! I don't understand, what's so important about hair?
Carver: Of course you don't understand. You got our mother's sense of fashion. *raises hand*
Landyhawke: *highfive*

It's worse than old - he looks dirty. Apologies to the person who made the pic - they did a really good job, but it just looks like he's covered in dirt.
And Jowan was a whiny little beeyotch, so I definitely don't want to be reminded of him, and the stupid necessity to keep him alive long enough to save Eamon.
Also, he looks great in the recent screenies - why are you ruining him? WHY???@!?!?!

My Dalish Warden gutted that deceptive, Arl-poisoning bastard at the first opportunity she got, and had no trouble saving the Arl, his wife and their son. Jowan's necessity is nothing more than an illusion.

No worries, it was just a bit of fun. I think the majority vote here was that he looks best clean-shaven. anyway. I'm not really seeing the Jowan thing, either. To me, their facial structure is so different that black hair and chin stubble doesn't make them look that similar.
@ Golden-Rose, what uncle? Is this your family in Kirkwall or something?
