PFFFT, YES! I laughed so hard. I can imagine the little!Carver with flowers in his hair, all sullen...

Now I want to throw my mage!Hawke into exaggerated situations that make Carver out to be the hero. Of course, it'll just make him resent me all the more....

Hawke: Carver, quick! There's, like, forty Templars down here!

Carver: Those are just Isabela's friends dressed in chainmail. And there's only three of them.

It's quite easy:
-make the avatar you want
-size must be 146x146 pixel
-rename it to "x_portrait"
-copy it into the folder "Pre-release Characters" and make sure the PC is not able to re-write it
-open DA:O or the DA:O character creator and create a character with the name you used for the portrait (in this case "x")
-click on "Upload Information" and then check your DA Player Profile

Voila!

Thanks for the walkthrough, I decided to try it with the CC since my game version was being finicky, and it worked. I also used one of the screencaps you posted. <3

My only advice outside of the link tho, when you upload your 'profile pic' character, go ahead and make a second character and upload that too. For some reason I have to use an untouched character to get the avatar pictures to upload. Then I delete them once they've uploaded, leaving me with just the pretty avatars I've made! <3

I wonder how Carver and big bro Hawke act together? I can see my mage Hawke being so annoying.

Bro Hawke: Whatcha dooin Carver?
Carver: Oh nothing..
Bro Hawke: Pining after Leliana again? Don't know how to start up a conversation?

Amagoi, the demo will include the escape from Lothering, including the death of Bethany or Carver, and one mission in Kirkwall where Hawke will have to help Isabela.

I, for one, am not downloading it. Much is a surprise to me; if I'm going to play Dragon Age 2, I want the whole schebang. Whole game or nothing.

The whole scene is very sad. Mama Hawke and Carver sound like they are going to cry and the family theme of the Hawkes plays in the background.

My heart broke for them.

No worries, it was just a bit of fun. I think the majority vote here was that he looks best clean-shaven. anyway. I'm not really seeing the Jowan thing, either. To me, their facial structure is so different that black hair and chin stubble doesn't make them look that similar. 

Also, am I hallucinating this, or does Carver's face look a LOT prettier in the exaggerated scenes than in the normal ones? Similar to Bethany having gigantic cannons, he looks paler and more fine-featured. 

Or do I just need to polish a bronto?

There is no difference as far as I can tell and I have played through the demo a few times by now.

The only differences are his armour and skill set.

I guess it's just the copious amounts of blood, .45  Maybe that's why FemHawke does it right across the face. A little blood smear here and there slims the features.

I'm putting off my usual first class myself (rogue). I never completed a mage play through in DAO, but I'm going to give it a shot in DA2. There's no character I'm not looking forward to meeting, but I'm most anticipating Carver and Bethany to see how the family thing works out. I think I'm looking forward to Carver slightly more than Bethany because I have brothers and hey, I kinda like them. As more videos popped up I even found myself more and more interested in playing a mage, but every class does look snazzier with the faster combat.

I'd be playing the demo tomorrow if I could, since I've already spoiled the whole prologue, but no such luck. I'll definitely be lurking here to see what everyone thought of it though. And to bask in all of Chignon's shiny screenies, of course. Thank you all for posting the avatar guides as well. But I'm on a console, so I gotta jump through some extra hoops. My computer's video card would spontaneously combust if I tried to put Dragon Age on it.

Oh man oh man that's brilliant! I love it, and I can sympathize! Carver's face is almost the same one I make over most of my oldest brother's relationships. Bless his poor red iris.
