Oh dear. You're plotting something, aren't you, Sia? Posted Image

Well, I'm recycling Meghan's personality first.  (Cuts down on the character voices in my head.)  Meghan + Little Brother + Probable LI Anders....

I'm going to be cracking myself up.

Yep!  If Hawke was a warrior (or rogue?), then he/she was there as well.  I think that's pretty cool.

Where did it say Hawke was in the army?  Missed that.

Yes, I already posted this a few pages back. Aveline will recognise Carver from the third company of Captain Varel.

Okay, I am most definitely playing as a Mage for my first playthrough. I had to play a Rogue and Warrior in the demo at first because trying to play as a Mage made my demo crash, but it ended up working.

Carver really is the more enjoyable sibling for me. Bethany seems a bit more... bland in comparison, and the times she really does show personality I'd mostly describe her as just a tiny bit of a winer. :P

Plus, having her around makes things far less gore-ious, Carver really knows how to make a gore-gasm happen with all the slicing and the blood everywhere.

TLE, that is - yes, waaaait for it - goreious!

Did anyone else think that he sounds a bit more hostile once you've reached Kirkwall, or am I imagining things again?

CARVER, WHY WON'T YOU LOVE ME?

I mean- *ahem*-

Has anyone figured out how to boost Carver's approval? I've run the demo now as a completely "nice" mage, and as a random mage who was "nice" and "snarky" and "aggressive" at any given time, just because I felt like it. But nothing seemed to raise or lower Carver's approval.

Does he just not care what my Hawke does as we escape Lothering? I mean, that's completely fair, but Bethany seems entirely eager to give her Friendship Points away when I do "dipolmatic" things, so I expected Carver to at least disapprove of my actions every now and again.

I mean, maybe DA2 won't work that way, but in DA:O, every character had something the responded well to. Zevran love dit when you flirted. Sten approved when you were forceful. Wynne enjoyed it when you actually listened to her, instead of screaming "omg, shut up, that's enough lectures for one day!"

WHAT'S CARVER'S DEAL?

Does he like snark? He seemed to like snark ("Another blade between us and the Darkspawn? Yes, please!") but I didn't notice an approval change when I was snarky. Does he respond well to force? Oh, man, if Carver likes it rough-!

Carver, I just want you to love me. Is that too much to ask?

Aw, Katie, don't despair! I haven't played the demo so I can't help you here (seems like I couldn't anyway, sounds like you tried everything). Maybe he doesn't care during the escape. If I'm remembering right in DAO there were dry spells with some companions, who didn't appear to care strongly one way or the other about some things. Could be he's mostly opinionated on the "big stuff" or isn't bothered during Lothering. In the new Gamestop video, I did spot that after a conversation with a quest giver in Kirkwall his rivalry went up +5. There must be opportunities sprinkled around.

I forget which "red" choice in which conversation I did made him gain +5 Friendly points, but there was at least one choice that did it.

Uh oh, red. He and I just might have to be rivals then, at least the first go-round.

If you're a warrior or rogue, it says in your PC's codex entry that Carver and Hawke enlisted and fought at Ostagar.  If you're a mage, you stay home to prepare the family to evacuate.

@KawaiiKate:  I don't remember, but you definitely can get some Friend and Rival points from Carver during the demo.  I can't remember it now, but I know I saw both red and blue points from him at some point.

Dang it! Now I have to go back and play it again. I think I got some friendship points from Carver when we were talking to Wesley. I think I was pretty nice in the playthrough I'm thinking of in all the speaking options. I'll have to que it up again, but I think when all was said and done, it showed Bethany +10 friendship and Carver +5 friendship.

You'll get +5 Friendship if you choose sarcastic option with Wesley. (He's gentle for a mage-hunter)

Carver gets a +5 friendship when you're a warrior/rogue I noticed and if you picked the middle option when you talked to Weasle (yes).

ONLY WHEN YOU'RE WARRIOR/ROGUE. WHAT? WHY BRO? Y U HAET my pimpin' magic skillz?

Edit: Also I noticed Beth gets ALOT of friendship points 15+(?) if you picked "Keep him away from my sister" as a warrior/rogue. Less if you picked the 3rd choice as a mage.

DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNN......nnnnggg it.

....ugh, seriously, Carver, just love me for my silly mage self! Please? Come on, buddy, I'd be a Warrior or a Rogue just to please you, but you don't want to know what happens if I choose that path!

Apparently if you don't pick the question "Why should I trust you?" in the convo with Wesley, you'll get Carver friendship points. If you notice when you do pick that question Carver disagrees with you.

Thank you kindly! I will give this a shot.

UNRELATED: Ugh, we get docked Approval Points for "investigating?" Sad. Now I can't ask questions or try to expand my knoweldge of the DA universe or its characters without worrying about "stepping on people's toes," so to speak.

Where are the Approval Points in the demo XD I played through it about 10 times and I haven't seen/notice them at all.

I just thought they weren't included in the demo, but now that I know they are I want to see what kind of opinions Carver likes for my Mage playthrough.

Huh, I got the +5 friendship for my mage when I picked the middle option. Hmm...

And Carver in the exaggerated scene in motion is so... glorious! :o
