I think it is awsome that Carver seems to have a far more enthusiatic fanbase than Bethany at this stage. Totally didn't see that coming, what with all the advertising BW has done with Bethany. Heck, we knew what she looked like a few months after DA2 was announced. The first time we saw Carver was back in January IIRC.

Makes me so sad that in my first playthrough Carver is going to die....(I have to play a male rogue. Personal rule.)

Carver is so many pages back!  How sad!

I just started a new Origins file.  I don't know if I'll ever finish it, but I am DYING for some Dragon Age in some way, shape, or form.  Part of the reason I made it was so I could snoop around Ostagar and see if any of the soldiers hanging around looked like Carver.  His VA isn't credited in Origins, so I didn't think I'd be lucky enough to find a soldier NPC with the same voice  I didn't find anyone that looked like him, either.  It made me sad.  

I did decide that I will make a Lady Hawke with long blond hair and pretend that she's the one Daveth is hitting on when you meet him.

I'm playing a mage so she wouldn't have been to Ostagar, but I remembered a little while back that Daveth said he was from a village close to the Wilds, and considering Lothering is pretty close there too, I came up with a weird head-canon that he went through Lothering on his way to the "big city" and fooled around with a young teenage Lady Hawke before continuing on.

It's only fair. My Warden never got her chance at him.

But yes! Back to Carver. I really hope he mentions having seen the Grey Wardens in camp. Maybe he had a passing conversation with Alistair (less complicated to script than one with the PC).

So glad that there's a Carver thread
I've been a fan of lil Carver since he was announced as Hawke's brother (I'm a sucker for bro relationships! ) and I decided to play a mage first the moment I knew that was the only chance to have Carver...
To be honest, Carver is along with Anders the character I find the most interesting, and I'd love to make a close relationship with him - just like the Winchester bros in Supernatural ^__ ^

I did this pic some time ago and since I'm a n00b at BW forums... well, i wanted to share ^^

Unfortunately, only his style changes, he'll always have black hair.

Oh, dammit. It's been a long time since the last time I checked info about Hawke's siblings... well, it doesn't matter. Carver is already so hot with black hair xD And we can always make fanart 8D

Yeah, they decided to keep it black because it goes well with so many different variables.

On another topic, I'm not sure if this has been talked about, but I had a thought the other day. As most people know, there seems to be a Chantry VS Mages vibe from DA2, and as Hawke you might need to choose a side. Well my thought was that perhaps your sibling chooses a side as well. Perhaps Bethany would (obviously) side with the mages and Carver would side with the templars unless you can convince them otherwise. Anyway, it's just an idea, but I think it would be interesting twist if your sibling could posssibly betray you near or at the end of the game. I would love to have some sort of big emotional clash with Carver about family loyalty blah blah and how I need him to stick with me.

For others, it's like it's the last thing they want to happen. XD I'm on the fence. It could be fantastic, or it could fall flat, depending on how it all plays out.

I personally don't know enough about the DA2 storyline in general to pursue the topic very far. If there does turn out to be a Chantry vs Mages thing going on, would Carver have any reason not to support his family? His codex entry from the demo spells out his loyalty to his family, and I don't know of anything that would suggest he's particularly taken with the chantry/templars. Of course, the game does span a decade, and any number of events might happen somewhere down the line. There's a quote from his writer that I like. It makes me nervous in a good way. I'll see if I can dig it back up again. Edit:

Thank you! The background for my drawing was inspired by this concept art for the game. And I am glad others have thought of that idea, I hope that it is a possiblity. Well... I hope and don't hope at the same time. I would love some sibling drama in the game, but I don't want it to be a sure thing that Carver (or Bethany) will leave you.
I don't know enough about the plot to predict what will happen either, but one reason I think Carver could possibly want to side with the templers is: "Maybe if Bethany was trained by the Circle and not father, she wouldn't have been killed by the ogre! " Or maybe you find out something about your father in the game, like maybe he did something horrible as an apostate, and Carver feels he needs to redeem the family name by working with templars. This is all just random speculation, but it makes me excited to play the game to find out what happens.
But besides my ideas, I think Carver is very loyal towards his family, which is what would make his betrayal all the more shocking.
And that quote you found about the writer for Carver is very interesting! Aveline possibly turning on you would be some good drama as well, but I'm not sure if it would be as surprising as Carver doing so.

We got to see Carver not too long after Bethany, I believe. Just... well, he looked pretty horrible back then. He dried up nicely, though.

I'm kind of surprised that we haven't seen much more of Carver already. Mage Hawke seems to be the most "canon" of Hawkes, being featured in all the promotional art and such.

But hey, even with possibly more limited exposure than Bethany, his thread here on the forums is almost three times the size of Bethany's. To which we can only say: Hey Bethany?
