Good to know i'm not the only one!  been running through some origins playthroughs in the hopes of importing vastly different "worlds"
Anyone having trouble saving fraps screenshots in the demo?  not sure why, but it wouldn't work for me in only the demo.  hmmmm.

I use Fraps as well. I've never had a problem, though.

Some possible Carver-related spoilers have showed on the first page of the forum.  Apparently they're from some kind of files in the demo, but I don't know if it's legitimate or not.  Could always be a troll.

Carver can apparently become either a templar or a Grey Warden.  That sounds like a reasonable way for the rivalry/friendship thing to play out.  If you go down the rivalry path, for example, he joins the templars.  (It could be the other way around, but I just don't picture "friend" leading to the templars.)

So what do you guys think of that?  Would Hawke consider it a betrayal of some kind if Carver became a templar?

Those images were probably photoshopped, but nevertheless, those were all outcomes that I suspected (and feared) for Carver. It would be amazing if he became a Grey Warden..... buyt I will try my absolute hardest to stop him from becoming a Templar.

I don't know why, but Carver joining the Templars has been a unfounded fear of mine ever since I learned that Carver will ONLY accompany Hawke if he/she is a mage. It seems like just the thing that would happen in the grief-ridden tale that is Dragon Age! ....but I hope it doesn't.

I won't consider it a "betrayal" if Hawke's own actions push Carver to be a Templar.... but I will be really, really sad, just the same.

I think Carver would become a Templar under one of the following circumstances:

1) Over the course of the story, he comes to hate blood mages and apostates, and maybe veen Hawke, too.
2) He thinks that he can reform the Templar system, and in a weird way is actually trying to make things BETTER for mages, by being a mage-hunter.

Some people who like Carver and come here may end up stumbling into information they didn't want to.  I already read all of this,  but I feel concerned for the unsuspecting.  Not to tell anyone what to talk about of course,  since it isn't my place. Just a modest suggestion.

The context for why Carver decided to join the Templars/Grey Wardens is unknown, so I think that we'll never know exactly until the game comes out. But it does prove that Carver is meant to go on the Rivalry path...

How so?

As you yourself wrote: we have absolutely no context for now. All we know is that he can join two different organisations. Which is probably likely for any or at least a few of the companions (Aveline joining the City Guards, for example).

*phew* I thought I was the only one...I'm so playing as a mage on my first play through cause I wanna keep him. AND I want to see how it goes, with the chantry asking an apostate for help

Heh. No, you're definitely not alone!

I can't wait to see what they have to say to each other - especially because they've both survived at Ostagar. It should make for some interesting conversations. Or at least I hope so.

I'm... reserving judgment for Carver's path. I know it would ****** off my first planned Warden, especially considering who I believe she'll romance. (Meg's surprised me before.)

And I believe I just thought up my Hawke's name.  Margaret Hawke.  (I couldn't name her D'Anjou.  I just couldn't.)

Your first planned Warden, Sia? You mean your Hawke, right? Margaret is a very pretty name. I like it. My Hawke probably won't share your problem since none of the romance options seem particularly interesting to me.
