Also, I did not realize the awesomeness of Carver until I was done with the demo c:

Brothers in general, I'll bet. There's something my brother would do.

Wow, this thread makes me really
LOL. I can't believe I allowed myself to miss all this Carver goodness.
And after playing the demo and reading Carver's codex, I'm a Carver
fan.
And the Varric thread is another hilarious place! I was in Books-A-Million the other day and took a shortcut down the romance aisle. It'll never look the same to me again. Take some cookies! Unfortunately, they're in Carver's thread, so they are also a little gore-ious.
Lesser Evil, that word should be made official.

Carver Hawke meets King Cailan at Ostagar. Write/draw/'shop this. Does hilarity ensue? Is there a personality clash? Do they drink much ale? Sunglasses for bonus points.

No. Because they're giving me ideas I don't have time to write. Misery loves company.

I'm almost done with the Merrill x Carver sketch, though it's on paper since I think my doodles/sketches turn out to be better when I draw them on paper first instead of doing everything from skratch on the computer c:

Was your previous Carver drawing done solely on the computer? Because that's extra impressive! My hand is about as steady as that of an ADHD chimpansee with Parkinson's disease when I try to do anything remotely related to drawing on the computer.

From yesterday's livestream of the game:

From what I've gathered from the Spoiler thread, Carver seems to have some sort of understanding with Varric and a line that suggests that he likes Merrill.

So Varric's nickname for him is Junior. I kinda like it.
Arg, so what if I broke and watched a little of those videos. It was only a liiiittle. I should probably get out of here before I go into the big spoilery thread. It's been taunting me. I look forward to seeing your art when I return, Star.

- Leandra mentions Bethany being 18 when she died, so Carver's also 18.
- He doesn't like Anders. At all. Not because he's a mage but how he "doesn't shut up about it."
- Sarcastic dialogue choices in serious conversations (especially if they concern the relationship between the family members) don't go too well with him.

Carver's 18? I wonder how old Hawke is.
I love him even more now. I agree that Anders can be somewhat annoying, and I think it's sweet that he's sensitive about his family.

Well he was already growing on me before the stream (I found him kind of funny in the demo), but what sealed it is his personality and his relationship with Hawke. There's conflict there and I like it.

Yes, I wondered about Hawke's age as well.
I mostly agree with him about Anders, too. We'll see how that particular dynamic develops, I guess.
From what I've seen in the livestream, it doesn't earn Hawke any points if s/he acts like a bastard towards Carver and that he in turn acts like a bastard, too. I think it's important to keep in mind that one of the things Carver wants most is his brother/sister to take him and his opinions seriously. Belittling him or his concerns with lines like "My brother is a fool most of the time." - honestly, that line made me cringe - and/or making light of everything he says doesn't sit well with him. At all.

That's true. I like his character, too, and the struggle he seems to be going through in order to find his own way.
For everyone who missed the livestream of the first few hours of the game, you can find it here.
