Especially if he lost out to his sister.

Oh, ouch. Posted Image

It's probably a good thing then that my Hawkes won't be doing that.

Mine either.  He'll be disapproving of Fenris next time.  You know... if he was around.

I like to think that when Fenris snogged Hawke breathless at the Gallows, Grey Warden!Carver was going o_o and O_O and probably /)_(\\ considering that how fidgety he was if Hawke even considered doing it with that one prostitute during the first sacrifice quest.  It's probably a blessing for him that Anders' romance doesn't have a snogging scene before the final battle because I'm sure he'd have an aneurysm if he found out that his sister's doing that dude he dislikes that way.

Also I need to voice my appreciation for this thread because bawww why do people hate Carver and want to kill him off everywhere else I frequent :?

Lol. I had to restart because I almost lost my will to play when I had to mercy kill Carver during the Deep Roads >.<
I'm never going to do that again, not even for 100% completion. Can do that with Bethany though. It's not that I don't like her, it's just that Carver really grew onto me during my first playthrough and I really felt the sibling element between Hawke and Carver. It didn't feel the same with Bethany :/

No, only the sarcastic options as far as I know. But maybe I can record and upload it for you, if anyone's interested.

Oh, I am. Thanks for the link.

Edit
And I tried the Templar path, too. It's actually a nice choice for him. It feels like he is following into the footsteps of his name sake, a templar who helped his father escape from the Circle, and what his father wanted for him when he chose Carver's name.

"I want to be someone. Like Father wanted. Like I want. This is my chance."

From the letter he sends, he also sounds a lot more happy about the fact that this choice was his own but that may just be my impression.

But he doesn't seem very happy. If anything I think he was putting up a front because of his pride, it was his choice so it was the right one, even though it wasn't.

I just don't understand why he's so mad at Hawke whenyou make him a Templar. He finally got to make his own decisions and do what he wanted to do and it's been three years since he saw his older sibling and escaped from that shadow and took his life in his own hands.

At least with the Warden route he seems justified in being angry, IMO. But I think it works out in the end, in spite of the taint. He has a cause to fight for and it's not tied to mages or his sibling.

You know that Carver doesn't do happy, Aris - it interferes with his brooding. Posted Image

True, but I'd say he came at least close to it at the end of the Warden version. If not happiness, then acceptance.

I agree, but I still think that both endings can be good for him.

How can it not when he wants to sing the Chant of Light with his sister/brother after a few rounds in the Hanged Man? Posted Image

That line was the biggest 'awww' moment in the game for me, and there quite a few of those. <3

Carver had a couple of the big awwwwwwwwwwwwwww moments for me. That one about being proud to call me brother was the winner, but him being all GRR PROTECTIVE of me when we met Fenris was way up there too.

Oh yeah, that one was great.

I also 'awww'd after the argument with him in Gamlen's house, when his voice gets soft and he just says 'Sister' (or 'Brother'). You can tell he feels bad but he's just too stubborn to apologize. :P

I know. I did a poll for favorite sibling and it was overwhelmingly Bethany.

That's because of the cans.  <_<

Bummer, too.  Carver was a great younger brother character.  I liked that he could "grow up" some toward the end too.  I think he's a good Grey Warden.  Better than Bethany anyways.

I really need some more help with carver, I'm just a bit short of 100% friendship with him. I just get annoyed especially in the beginning cause we seem to agree on things but I don't get a friendship boost. I don't get any points for his 'companion' quest or the conversations before or after it. Am I just not supposed to get points from those?

Do you mean the quest with Tobrius's documents? You should get a +15 friendship boost if you pick all the diplomatic/helpful options.

Yep, I got that. I didn't get any points for the birthright quest or the conversations before or after. I just didn't know if I could get any points there.

Oh and when we first talk to Aveline and Hawke says 'we're going south" I always get rivalry points from that. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Those are two different quests and conversations we are talking about.

The Birthright quest is about breaking into the Amell's estate cellar. In that cellar, you should find a chest containing Tobrius's documents right before actually you enter the Vault. This triggers a new quest called "Family History" in which you can get letters from Hawke and Carver's father from a mage called Tobrius in the Gallows. In this conversation, you can get a +15 friendship boost. I'm sorry for the confusion.

No, there's nothing you're doing wrong. That's just Carver being Carver. I think, he disapproves no matter what you do in this conversation.

I tried to reload before talking with Aveline and it's the same everytime. He disapproves of you just talking there, at least if you go straight to the answers and don't bother to ask them any question. That shouldn't do any difference though.

Nope.  I had to grin.  Impatient little brother.

Am I wrong to conclude that most Carver fans are female players? It seems that way. But as a male gamer, Carver is by far my favorite companion. Basically because his character is so flushed out. Too often RPG games like this have player character siblings being your best friends (DA:O Human noble being an example). Carver brings to life sibling rivalry at its finest. He cares for you but is too proud to admit it. He's protective of you as the warrior but always feels shadowed (with good reason) by your accomplishments. Best companion in a RPG I've seen in a long time.

One thing that sort of bothered me was how he dealt with the news of mother in Act 2. He seems distant and even throws out "I'm sure you did your best". I am guessing this is the result of Warden training and slow maturity of the character, but doesn't seem like the Carver we know in Act 1. The dialogue tree is too brief and too much is left unsaid.

Probably because he really wants to punch his sister. ;) But doesn't want to get his ass kicked.
