When you first meet Meredith, she says something like "I know you, you're Ser Carver's sister" and then "He's never mentioned you". So how does she know that?

Because Carver is part of her order of Templars, and Hawke is a prominent member of Kirkwall's community by that point. It's not hard to figure out the family connection without Carver mentioning his sibling.

^ that. Carver Hawke is a templar in her ranks. Meanwhile the Hawke is very rich ex smuggler/mercenary that made a fortune in the deep roads. Supposedly there is some rumbles in the Nobility about it. Plus Varric's legions have had years to flourish. Just imagine what he's added to just the deep roads journey?

It also makes perfect sense for Carver not to mention his sibling. I mean, one could assume it's because of resentment, but let's not forget that Carver's sibling is a powerful apostate. It wouldn't really be smart to discuss their sibling, because the less questions asked about Hawke the better.

Aye, though I'm sure Meredith watches him with a short leash incase he's a man on the inside. If you side with the Templars doesn't she still call Hawke a Conspirator? The sibling could be called one of them lol.

Certainly. But what I meant was, she said it sort of like "hey I know you, you're that sister of his....which he never mentioned of". It would be more logical to say "you're Hawke" or something like that.

I know, BUT Meredith mentions in the same scene that she's willing to overlook that Hawke's an apostate mage, if she helps her. She knows.

Meredith is a hypocrite.

But... It makes sense for Carver to not talk about Apostate Hawke if he's a Templar. There would end up being pressure to reign her in or arrest her.

At the point of you returning from the Deep Roads the point is that Hawke is more trouble than he/she is worth to reign in.

At that point the mage thing isn't a huge secret.

True, but that doesn't mean the pressure wouldn't be brought to bear. At the very least... his Templar buddies would make life difficult for him.

Just had to put this in here.

My son likes to watch me play Dragon Age 2 (and Origins really) and now he runs through the house yelling "Carver! Carver! Carver!" It will be quiet and all of the sudden "CARVER!" lol. So my son's favorite character is Carver.

D'aaaw, Aynslie - your son's sweet.

And may I just say how much I like Nico Lennon, Carver's VA? He did an amazing job.

I had a strange bug with Carver, when he became a GW, his armour was put into my inventory and in the party screen he is still wearing his vest....

Could you wear the armour? :D
I'm sure your little brother wouldn't mind if you wore it....

I can't wear it sadly since it says restricted to Carver, so it's in my chest. If I meet him in the Qunari battle and he does not have his armour, I will just bring it with my to the final battle and give it to him.

During the Howe quest, yes? That happened when I loaded the autosave. He shows back up in the right armor.

What I also liked about Warden!Carver is when he calls you out on siding with Meredith. That was very unexpected the first time. Oh, and Varric's "Here we go again ..." was priceless.

XD  Is there a video of that?  I can just picture the entire gang groaning as Carver and Hawke seem to be gearing up for another argument at the eleventh hour.

Meredith: Uhhhhh... can I interject here?

I uploaded it for you, leggy:

Grey Warden!Carver isn't too happy about his sister siding with the Templars. Varric notices.

It only works on PC as far as I know. You have to edit the character appearance of your Hawke in the .das file of your saved game.

And because that was slightly OT:

I'm sorry if this has already been discussed (haven't read the whole thread), but I could swear that Carver is especially protective of my mage--at multiple points he seems to break off combat and race across the battlefield when I'm under melee threat. I've looked in his tactics and can't find an instruction to explain this...has anybody else noticed this behavior? If it's something sneakily coded in for Carver alone, I think it's awesome.

I've noticed that, too.  And I've played two different mages, both at Rivalry with him.  It's like Zev's coding in DA:O.  He protects The Warden, too, no matter what you set your tactics too.
