BFFs? More like complete opposites, no? Posted Image

I can kind of understand why there was no hug in that scene - fires, Qunari, people running for their lives left and right, pressing matters and all that. I really, really wished there was one at the Gallows, though. Bethany gets one as far as I know.

Complete opposites can be BFFs! When put together Carver's super-seriousness is tempered by Alistair's never-seriousness!

When I heard Bethany got one I was miffed. I've been wanting to hug Carver all game and it never came. :(

I don't think it's too crazy for them to hug during the qunari scene, though. It takes about ten seconds for a quick 'I'm really glad you're not dead and that you being dragged off into the darkness of the Deep Roads isn't the last memory I'll ever have of you' hug. If some guy you've never even met has time to give you a necklace or ring or whatever it was then you should have enough time to hug your little brother! :pinched:

Hmmm. Imagine the similarities that would annoy/endear Alistair to Carver if elder Hawke was of the sarcastic persuasion.

Heh, now I want to see more Carver/Alistair interaction.

I'm not saying it's "crazy" - I was saying I can understand why they didn't put it in. What I can't understand is why there was no hug during the Gallows scene. It would've been the perfect opportunity, in my opinion. Especially after Carver brings up Leandra and just trails off because he can't finish the sentence.

Unless you're Bethany.

They must have been taunting us by having an option that specifically says, 'No hugs on the battlefield'.

I love deviantart's Dragon Age memes. I'm waiting for more DA2 ones to pop up. pen-gwyn can really draw, and Carver looks great in this one. And Limpstella's is hilarious, especially the last two panels. Oh, Anders. Why did you not listen to me/why did you listen to me?! Depending on what play through I'm in. :P

It's a bit unfair. He looks like he needs one. /:

I actually like the option but the paraphrase is horrible, I agree.

I was fine with not getting a hug.  Carver doesn't really seem like the hugging, touchy-feely sort.

I loved that damn "No hugs on the battlefield" option SO MUCH.  I think I tried to claw my way inside the TV so I could wrap around Carver's head like a possessive koala bear.

He probably isn't but when did that ever stop an older brother/sister? Posted Image

I loved it, too. Especially Aveline's follow-up. It's nice that they included something small like that.

Was wondering if anyone knows what armor Carver is wearing in Varric's tale in the beginning. Is it grey warden armor? Playing a "destiny" hawke and wondered whether or not Carver would become a templar or grey warden.

The armor he wears in the 'exaggerated' portion is the Grey Warden armor, yes.

In the demo he's wearing more generic armor, I wonder why they changed it. I thought it was an interesting choice.

Currently starting a second mage =) Carver is so sweet when he is running around with Merrill. If there was a way of getting some sort of happy future in the GW and pursuing a relationship with Merrill I would be so happy. Would be really nice to try to help little bro out =) last time he ended up with the wardens, it was my first spoiler-free play so that caught me completely of guard. This time he'll end up in the wardens. Hopefully that makes him a little happier. Sounds like it in the thread at least =) wasn't Merrill supposed to have some conversations regarding your siblings? Think I've heard something about it.

I find it weird his armour changed into a Grey Warden. Perhaps in future games, one of the "default" stories would probably mean Carver will be a Grey Warden if mage origin was picked? Or maybe because Grey Wardens represent "neutrality" and therefore would be fitting in the legend? I mean, originally Bethany was supposed to have worn the Circle mage robes (Rise to Power trailer), and then later changed to her default clothing (with enlarged breasts), since I think it would give the player the sense they were shoe-horned into being a "mage supporter".

I find it quite interesting when Cassandra questioned the Grey Warden link to the Champion by Carver in the story, despite not revealing much.

When Carver joined the templars, I got a conversation with Merrill about it afterwards. On the run where he became a warden I didn't get a conversation about him, though. Having done both, seeing him off to the templars makes for some good drama, but I prefer him in the wardens. He does seem like he's found purpose there, and plus you get to talk with him in the Gallows before the big showdown with Meredith like you can with the rest of your companions.

You can have that with Templar!Carver, too. If you side with the Templars, of course.

You don't get him making that awesome entrance in Lowtown if he's a templar, though. That was one of my favorite scenes. <3

That's true. But you don't get the "You'll have to go through me"-scene with Warden!Carver.

I do love that scene, but as templar Warden you don't get his awesome and sweet pre-battle conversation.

^ Heh. It's ok. Somehow I didn't manage to put that one together, either.

I also had an interesting dream last night, and it was the first time a video game character has ever been in one of my dreams. It wasn't Carver. It wasn't Hawke, either. It was me watching Zoolander in which Anders was playing Owen Wilson's character. I have you to thank for that, right? :P

LOL!  Anders as Hansel and Fenris as Zoolander are my head canon.  XD

Also, I was trying to match up DA2 characters with It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia characters for the lulz, and Carver would definitely be Mac, with the sleeveless shirt and the need to show off all the time.

I manage it more often than siding with the mages. My Hawkes want that Viscount seat. Posted Image

Seriously, though - you should give it a try. Or you could just watch it here. The part with Carver starts around 2:48.

...You truly have a gift, my friend. My hat's off to you. Or would be, were I wearing one.

Edit-

I really think the slow boat sail-in is my favorite cinematic in the game. Though for some reason, Fenris standing there with one hand on his hip kinda makes me giggle. Thanks for linking that. Interesting dialogue from Templar Carver. I prefered him as a warden because it really seemed like he'd found his place, but there it doesn't feel like he's doing too bad with the templars. Without that scene and with just the snippets of him following Meredith around to go by, it felt like he was still treading water.
