just started playing mass effect again. i've never played female shepard before. wondering if there is a romance option in the first one?

I've seen that and it looked cool. Unfortunately, I can't 'not' romance Liara with FemShep.

If you want to romance her with a Shep who looks like anything other than the default femShep, though, you have to mod.
(Well, technically you have to mod your game to enable the developer console in the first place, but that level of ini tweaking is pretty damn minor to really qualify.)
