The outside packaging needs to be bigger than the actual art inside! The art should also be tapped in the center so the edges and corners do not touch the cardboard. The problem with a snug fit is that if the box gets damaged (e.g. corner gets crushed) then that damage propagates to the lithos. My tali, grunt and thane got their corners crumpled this way. I mean increasing the size of the cardboard boxes so there is a 1 inch buffer around all edges shouldn't be more costly than continuously having to ship replacement lithos right?

The new packaging seems to be designed to prevent catastrophic damage, at the cost of being almost guaranteed to do a little damage. All 4 packages I have received with the new packaging have had at least one crushed corner.

Thats pretty much it.

I'm just wondering wouldn't it be off for them to replace a few catastrophically damaged ones than a bunch of them with less but still significant damage. I mean I don't mind if the corners are folded slightly because I can reduce the appearance with a few heavy books but when they get all crumpled and creased then its just not possible to fix.

Im guessing bioware stuff and visceral stuff are sent from the same place? Every litho from visceral i've had has been in the cardboard rectangular box they usually do, but then placed in another slightly larger box. 4 orders from there, and all perfect....

Treehouse Brand Stores runs both the bioware store and visceral store site (hence the links at the bottom) and is located in Colorado.

Oh yeah i know Treehouse is behind the both of them, i was asking 'if sent from the same place' as in from the same warehouse, since the packing is different between the two

It should be from the same warehouse.

I just traded a Miranda and a Legion for a Minuteman and a Omega. The problem is that the Minuteman and Omega are damaged in shipping. The person I traded with said I could contact BioWare and request new ones. Is that possible for me, or can only the person who bought it request new ones?

Umm...DarkBeing....I think your chain is being yanked there. MM and Omega have been out of stock and the store has no liability over how someone else unrelated to them shipped you some lithos in a trade.

Personally I'd make a post to the Litho trading thread to let people know who the person you traded with was so that they can expect damaged Litho's from them in the future so that they might be more willing to send pictures along to 'prove' that the Litho wasn't damaged already and improve their shipping practices. Let it be known that all Litho's that have not recently been sold cannot be replaced by Bioware Store, along with what should be an obvious fact - Bioware Store cannot and will not be held accountable for the saftey of litho's when sold by a third party.

Not specifically connected to lithographs, but I have noticed a common factor with damaged parcels I've been receiving, which is a local courier: HDNL.  I'd estimate over 50% of parcels delivered by them have some noticeable damage regardless of the sender and their location, ranging from relatively minor crumpling to damage that's severe enough to affect the contents.

The relevance to the lithographs is that they've all been delivered by HDNL, and show approximately the same rate of damage, i.e. about half arrive in poor condition.

I'd previously assumed that the Bioware Store's parcels were being damaged prior to arriving in the UK, but on balance I think that the problems are occurring on the last leg of the delivery.

It would be interesting to know if other people in the UK are seeing the same problems with them (though it may be our local depot) and if other European customers are seeing a similar rate of damage with their shipments: in the case of the latter, I'd hazard a guess that they aren't.

Luckily, I have not had this problem yet. Of all my lithographs, only the Tali one has a slight knock on the bottom corner, but nothing really noticable. I've never had damage with any other items either, but then I don't get many packages delivered by HDNL other than the Bioware stuff, mainly because they just get returned to the sender. In fact, I think (at my local depot anyway) the reason that they are good at not damaging items is that they don't ever handle them, they just say they've attempted to deliver it and return it to the sender without leaving so much as a slip letting you know they have it! (They tried to send something back to Treehouse just the other week until I tracked down their number, which is not available on their website, and told them I'd make the 3 hour round trip to pick it up myself!).

Hmm, that's an entirely different sort of irritating! I did hear some comment about a group of their drivers simply not bothering to deliver stuff and have had similar problems, though at least they haven't tried sending stuff back (yet); fortunately our usual driver's very good, unfortunately I suspect that whoever deals with the stuff prior to him getting it isn't.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind making the journey if I knew they had legitimately tried to deliver it! I have not received a lot of items because they have returned them (mainly just to Amazon) but because I had the tracking number I managed to stop them from sending my Bioware stuff back! I guess I should just be thankful that when I do eventually get the items (especially the lithographs) that they aren't damaged!! So far anyway...

Is there a time limit on when you can request replacements? I got my Miranda and Legion some time ago, but only just recently took it in for framing. Until then it was sitting here, unopened. When I first opened the box at the frame shop, I saw that they both had pretty bent corners (both the same corner, the bottom right). I left them with the framers, hoping that the bends weren't that bad and that they'd not be that noticeable after being framed, but they just called me and told me about the corners, thinking I didn't already know, so they must be somewhat significant to warrant a phone call.

I don't want to start tearing them up only to find out it's too late to get a replacement, seeing as how they were purchased a couple of months ago.

As far as i know, the hold backs havn't been released, so they should be able to replace them. For more info, you should have received a receipt with the box - that receipt lists Bioware Stores return policy and you should go from there.

Here is the latest update on Lithograph packaging.
1) All Lithographs will be poly-bagged and then taped to a thick cardboard backing.
2) This will be placed inside the current box that we are using to ship.
3) This box will be placed inside a larger box surrounded by packing material to limit movement of the inner box.
4) Outerbox will be have a fragile do not bend sticker.

This should solve 99% of the issues being discussed related to Lithograph shipments.

Have this part been cut out of the packaging process, or have totally misunderstood what it means?
My orders so far, started with the Thane/Tali/Grunt-pack, have been packaged between two pieces of cardboard in a flat box. Shouldn't that one be placed in a outer box?
At the moment I'm pretty confused over this because according to the store support, "over-boxing" has caused damage to lithographs, which sounds really strange as it really can't have been worse then what you get with a box that's such a thight fit as the flat box is. Pretty much every dent to the box corners goes straight in to the lithograph's corners.

Yes, it appears that they never implemented that step, at least for the vast majority of orders. I've heard of a few people getting theirs double boxed, but mine have never come like that. Mine have all had mild corner damage.

Just chiming in here to give you my own story.
I have ordered 13 lithographs total I believe. With the exception of Kirkwall Gate which was rolled the only other non damaged lithographs I received were Wards and Korlus which I ordered together. They were shipped between 2 layers of oversized syrofoam which seemed to work very well. I believe right after that is when they moved over to Treehouse and increased the prices, supposedly to improve the shipping quality. Every single lithograph I have gotten since Pragia that was shipped in a flat box has had corner damage. I don't see why this is acceptable, especially considering that a good standard was set at a lower price prior to this change.

Fair enough, as I said that was my belief. I apologize, I misunderstood. That being said we are still paying a higher cost for what many here have said is inferior packaging. Try to understand my frustration here. The vast majority of the lithographs I have purchased have been damaged in shipment. I don't feel it is unreasonable to expect the opposite.

There comes a point in time where you realize its the postal service, not Treehouse. Mine come to me in Ottawa, Canada and I have never, ever, ever, received one that wasn't in 100% mint shape. That should tell you something.

Hello!

I bought one of the Normandy SR2 Lithographs in the final launch yesterday and did receive an order confirmation. The item has already been paid according to PayPal. Although, when I looked at my recent orders at BioWare Store, there was no implication towards me even buying it. Should I be concerned?

You should give the litho to me
Well, I don't know, ask Ms Domino. When I ordered anything from the Bio Store I've always received an e-mail notification about the order and they were always in my order history pretty fast.

How do I do this exactly? By sending a PM or..?

E: Oddly enough the Thane litho I just bought is already visible at recent orders page. It seems something fishy might have happened to my Normandy order. Hopefully it's nothing major. :(
