Get out of here Baronius. You're a disgrace to the modding community.

Eh? What's your problem man? I just give credit where credit is due. And no, I'm not Baronious and I don't know him.

Kaelvar, don't respond toJMason, whomever he may be. Arguments about IA and Sikret tend to end in flame wars and the moderators here are a lot less forgiving than those over at G3.:P Let's keep this thread about discussing the merits and flaws of IA, not it's maker.

Agreed. Thanx for the support, though.

I don't see how he/she(whoever created this mod) can take any legal action against you as Baldur's Gate 2 is something that this person did not create. If legal action were attempted, I'm sure that he/she would need to provide evidence that he/she did had rights to Baldur's Gate 2.

If someone did not wish a mod to be distributed, one should not distribute the mod at all in the public(or to anyone for that matter).

In any case from what I've read in this thread, I probably would never want to play this mod at all. Greater command in Suna Seni seems quite insane. Uplifting spell immunity scrolls...etc, basically changing the game altogether. Good luck on your run though.

Point taken, wouldn't want to have this thread locked because of a pointless flame war.

So if you decide to give/share something to your friends (or private club), all the public has right to get a copy of it?! (it can even be information, doesn't need to be something physical)

You talk nonsense, don't you realize?

I've defended Sikret and IA in the past, particularly when someone made "IA Lite" against Sikret's wishes. However my goodwill ran out when they started charging for their mods (and yes this is effectively what they are doing. The "donation" is not voluntary, and there is precious little else on BWL that you would want to pay money for).

Personally though I won't pay and I won't play either. IA is way too difficult for me and is more frustration than enjoyment.

So you need to pay it like tax and if you don't, you are brought to jail?

Will start a IA 6 run with a full party and reporting about it here. If it degenerates into a reload fest i'll call it quits, though. Will play through Baldurs Gate 1 first with a lot of mods installed (NToTSC etc) so i can start at a bit higher level.

EDIT: Oh, and please don't feed the trolls, guys.

Ho ho. No, you pay it like you pay for a game. Except it purports to be a "free" mod which you make a "donation" for.

They'll release it for public and going to be free but it's a closed beta now. There's nothing wrong in giving access to closed betas to those who support their site.

Are they advertising it as such? "If you pay this amount to support our site, we will give you this beta."?

Because that's a selling point right there. They are not suppose to advertise anything.

*Edit, PM me and I will be happy to discuss this matter with you furthur.

I don't intend to talk with you in PM. This thread is used to discuss material which distribution violates common courtesy. If you consider yourself so "clean" and object their payment-based system, you should set an own example by not abusing the stolen files. Regardless if they charge for anything or not.

They don't do business, they just seem to cover their costs. Other web portals have similar solutions, I've seen it on Sorcerer's Place which is a huge gaming site. They have SPS accounts, which include fast access to hosted BG2 mods as well (at least it did, last I checked).

End of the line. Take arguments about distributing mods to PM.
