Is it just me, or does the entire design look far too much like some utterly cliche and stylized anime crap you would see from some mainstream japanese game developers?

And what about the combat? How can there be anything tactical from combat which works that quick? At the moment it looks like a mindless one-button-spamming hack and slash Dynasty Warriors rip-off. What about about all those combat effects, those flashing blue circles about? Again, ripping off bloody Dynasty Warriors or some other awful fighting system's effects.

And what happened to the Darkspawn? They look ridiculously like some kind ill-designed clown-like Skeletor or some other cartoon villain from the 80s.

I know some people will say "It's not finished", well you can bet that is it is going to be looking something like that, when they are willing to show actual gameplay.

I was honestly much happier about DA2 before seeing that gameplay video. This doesn't even look like a Western RPG, and it bears nothing akin to it's original dark, realistic and relatively earthly style. But this... just loooks wrong and far, far, far too cartoonly/anime stylized.

What's wrong Bioware? Have you flushed out all the good modelers and artists who helped make the great visual atmosphere and world of DA1 or are you trying the seemingly common developer practise of bankruptcy by pushing out originality and creativity, for more money in a market you have no idea about?

My intent is not to mindlessly insult Bioware, because they are definitely my most favourite of all video-game developers, BUT this looks severly different from anything from the DA 2 I was expecting, which is why it's extremely disappointing to see a Dragon Age sequel which looks entirely alien from anything BioWare could have made, and it would be so disappointing to see another good and stand-out company falter to the low-qualities, cliches and bland designs of the absolute conventional and uncaring, money-grinding, creativity-killing video-game companies of today.

I don't think you know what anime looks like. I saw no bug-eyed people. As for the sword, well, that's Varric exaggerating things. It's not going to be there year round.

The same could be said for Origins' action.

Of course it will look like that. But it is not finished. I don't see what you are trying to get at.

IRONY.

Please don't be over-dramatic. You don't work for them so you don't know what they want to make or are capible of making.

I thank you for your feedback, but am positive that you will find that you are operating under certain misapprehensions regarding the gameplay of Dragon Age II.

And pretty much everyone working on DA II worked on Origins, so it's possible that two minutes of footage do not represent the totality of the game.

Still, you may find that Dragon Age II is not for you. That would be a shame, but it may happen. I hope you find a game that better suits, should things come to that.

But seriously, don't undermine the reputation David is working on. You know, sacrastic, etc, I know alot of people don't get sarcasm but who cares about them really? Well your boss maybe, but who else?

I used to play Goldeneye. When I first picked it up, I thought it was the pinnacle of what a shooter, could be and indeed, at the time it was. Now, I play Modern Warfare 2. If I had not played any shooters between Goldeneye and Mordern Warfare 2 and only had multiplayer gameplay video with which to judge MW2 before playing it, I'm pretty sure I would feel the same way about the frenetic pacing of MW2 that you do about DA2.

Frankly, as great as DA1 was, the visuals and the gameplay were dated, and Bioware knows this. That they managed a genius game anyway attests to how good they are at what they do. Those same dated visuals and gameplay mechanics just weren't going to meet their standards anymore. Comparing the gameplay and visuals of DA1 and DA2 before playing the sequel is just sort sighted.

I do agree about the darkspawn that we have seen, they do look like Skeletor clones. And, they're dressed like the darkspawn from Awakening, which I find odd because those are a different type of darkspawn that appear in Amaranthine, why are they down in Lothering chasing the Hawke family? It's just something that makes me go "huh..." because I understand about darkspawn evolving, but in those scenes, it doesn't make sense because the darkspawn in Lothering should be the same darkspawn that were in Origins, because... They're the same. It's the same time period. But, I'm sure there will be a good reason for it, or maybe it will be changed before DA2 comes out.

Way to make me look like a dick. Wait for the forums to pounce on the user, then enter in and be the knight in shining armor. It's like the devs know better than us or something. :bandit:

Again, a direct feed to game play footage is needed, but you can still get a good idea from the footage I've seen. It's fast, exaggerated (as intended) and very much like Japanese hack n' slash games.

I really wouldn't classify them in the same vein, Dynasty Warriors doesn't really play anything at all to DA:O on crack.

It's a game where you press the x button to kill over 200 guys in one swing. You can probably find footage on YouTube.
