 First off Im not trying to spam the forum. I was asked to post this question into the spoiler thread and seeing as I dont have the power to just move my thread I am pasting my topic here, so sorry for that in advance.

Just a question. Does the fading away during the love scenes in ME2 really bother people as much as it does me? Don't get me wrong I'm not a pervert or something but to me its really irritating to have scenes fade out like in Fable when this game is supposed to be cinematic and movie-like and in movies it never just fades, if anything it cuts to another place or time or just shows the scene exposed skin or not. I just want to see what other people think about this, although it would seem that close to nobody is bothered by this. One thing that really did it for me was in Lair of the Shadow broker when you're talking with Liara and BOOM fade out, cut to door, see ya later Liara. Then I think, What did I miss aside from the obvious "encounter"? However I have to say I was very pleased that the romance theme and the vigil song returned, I miss the old music.

Like night says, fade away actually prevents some of the romance scenes from becoming pornographic like with the human ones or enter the squick zone with the alien LIs. The sad thing is with the variety of species we get in all the romances now, I don't think Bioware could ever return to the tasteful ME1 scenes with partial nudity. I think I'd be scarred for life if I had to see Garrus or Thane naked.

I also think this is a valid point I made in the other thread that everyone passed over.

you and I and everyone else knows what human relations looks like and that includes the humanoids like asari too so why shield us? It's rated M for a reason if some careless parent lets their child grab hold of it for 50+ hours to find this scene then that is really poor parenting and shouldn't shield our eyes because little johnny's mom/dad was irresponsible with there M rated game.

Sadly the ESRB is not as concise as the MPAA so M for Mature can mean anything from PG-13 all the way up to skirting NC-17. With the Faux News backlash, and partnership with EA probably made them tone everything down to near PG-13 levels. Drug use? Fine. Gore? Fine. Clothed "strippers"? Fine. A little sideboob and media attention? OH GOD NO SHUT DOWN EVERYTHING.
What I find hilarious is that execs still think there's such a thing as bad publicity. Or maybe they just didn't feel like giving us tasteful romantic scenes, perhaps we angered the gods somehow; who really knows?

I don't understand that either, think about all the people that watched that news report and was like, "Yes, porn game, gotta buy it" regardless of the fact that its a 50+ game with 10 seconds of side boob and thats completely wrong but Bioware made a sale so who cares?

Maybe they decided that the engine isn't up to it? Most all animations are a bit off (look unnatural, clipping problems, etc), and the engine is kind of designed to handle characters walking (as opposed to, say, more intimate activities)

Have you seen ME1's scenes? those were great, was that the same engine?

All the ME games are slated to run on UE3, just different iterations of it. ME1 was probably 3.1-2, ME2 is 3.5 with a lot of custom additions and ME3 will likely be a slightly modified ME2. So there's no engine limitation holding them back, there are plenty of games that do amazingly fluid movements that use UE3 it's just a matter of actually getting them to do it.
