The missing dinner scene and Shepard never eating was probably just the result of resource constraints: they didn't want to make extra animations for something as mundane as eating.insomniac13 wrote...
I completely agree with everything you guys said! Bioware did really chicken out when it comes to the romances... Dont know if this has been mentioned, this is a minor note, but when you ask Kelly out to "dinner" it just cuts away!! I mean, geez, you really cant show two people having dinner? I think it would be pretty neat to be having a dinner sequence and having the dialouge wheel to decide what to say. If you said the right things, you would get it on with Kelly! Plus we never see Shepard (or any of the characters) eat! Ever!
But regarding the romances, yes they did chicken out, and I resent that almost more than I miss ME1's romance scenes, which were great. To cave in to the likes of Fox News, that's contemptible.

Side boobage was great and all, but I'm not sure it would have worked much for the current round of love interests. No way it would have worked with Tali and still kept the 'what are Quarians really like under the suit?' mystery, we haven't seen a Turian without his shirt for thesame reason we haven't seen a Krogan (the human), and most the other characters are already revealing enough as we see them. We also wouldn't want more exposure for some LI over others: already many were annoyed at Liara's extended scene.
The whole Tali situation could have been resolved with half spoilers. show her body shape skin tone, any little details like that, but still keep her face hidden. Then we still would have got the:
As for Turians without their shirt? i didn't realise that was such secret. though admittadely i don't keep up with the Garrus interest.

Mopotter, I completely agree there is a true romance built up in me1. Me2 built up is crap. See previouse post of mine.
I think the amount of buildup varied a lot between the various LI.

I'd call not making a dinner scene being lazy. If you want to have an option to have dinner don't half ass it and fade out, honestly if you don't feel like making the scene don't even give us the option to have dinner. I am disappointed that Fox News was enough to send Bioware running, they should stand up to them because I've seen far worse digital love scenes and animated boobs in other games, we all know it's because Mass Effect was popular.

The worst part is, that after so many complains on this forum, Bioware made another lame fading away in LotSB. That´s lame
As much as I had the same hopes that Bioware wouldn't do another fade out scene, I knew it had and would be done because if Bioware had given Liara fans a full blown romance scene everyone else would've cried all the way up till ME3's release and how its not fair to them that we got an actual love scene and not the pathetic excuse for love scenes we have now.

I prefer fade to black. The Liara sex scene in LotSB was perfect IMHO. My mind can do better then a limited in-game engine.
Indeed. The lack of buildup to the romances a worse thing than the fadeouts

Now, when it comes to ME3, I'd like us to see scenes like ME1 again. :-) Intimate but tasteful, and with a good romantic lead-up that integrates them into the overall plot of the game.

Dragon Age was pathetic. Morrigan actually put a bra ON to have sex. Why rate it mature if you're going to be a ****. You know the controversy will only help sales, right? Anyway, something on the level of Mass Effect 1 would be cool. Mass Effect 2 had pretty flimsy scenes.
Yea I thought Morrigan putting on a bra to have sex was really stupid, so I modded the game and now that doesn't happen anymore
You know the controversy will only help sales, right?
Why does Bioware not understand that?

Because Bioware is afraid of the political ****storm that involves alien side b00b13z.

When God of War gets away with full of breast nudity and nobody bats an eye lash, Whats to be afraid of? Free marketing? there wasn't a political Sh!tstorm last time just a bunch of uneducated jackasses flinging poo at something they had yet to even play.

I would have to agree. The political sh*tstorm angle is pretty flimsy, simply because of games like Dante's Inferno. I mean, the game's freaking demo had bare breasts in it, and any child with an unlocked XBL account could download the darn thing.
I honestly don't know but I think if it came down to a publicity angle it would be on the part of EA, not Bioware. Didn't they change the new MoH game so that it didn't have people playing as Al Qaeda?

As Morpheus would say "Free your mind"
Or, as I'd say:
A passionate kiss, an embrace, even well-done dialogue, before fade to black can be far more romantic than gettin' wild in engineering.
It's all a matter of presentation

But, see, they weren't alien. That makes all the difference apparently.

You're awesome for quoting the Matrix. I still think that the scenes in ME1 were well done and ME3 could only benefit from them.

Indeed they were. A bit edgy, yet remained this side of good taste. I certainly wouldn't object if ME 3 went this route. I'd also be perfectly content with a fadeout, depending on what leads up to it.

As for shirtless Garrus, there is naked turian concept art out there, but I'm guessing Bioware didn't really want to render it just for Garrus' love scene - they were busy with Jacob's sixpack and Miranda's lacy bra.
Fortunately there is fan art. Rawr!
