Are you creeped out by the option to call your LI up to snuggle/sit on your lap?

I thought he was just having a joke at his own expense for "plagiarizing" your comment.

Edit: D'oh, he beat me to it and explained it himself.

Oh God no. Please, BioWare, no grins. Shepard should never grin.

Lol, anything is better than the intense stare.

Because I just appropriated your sentiment for myself instead of mustering an original thought of my own. So it was an ironic "hurrah for plagiarism".

Nah, you're being too hard on yourself! Quoting someone in agreement is not plagiarism.

The only thing that "creeps me out" about the whole thing is the "sit on the lap" animations. For a manshep, the LI sits on his lap and is animated as if she's talking, while he STARES intensely into her face like he's about to slap her lol.

They could at least have given him a grin or something.

Oh God no. Please, BioWare, no grins. Shepard should never grin.

This. The only difference would've been Shep ready to rape the LI

I think it's a worthwhile feature for screenshot making if nothing else. If someone gets their kicks out of roleplaying that they order someone to sit on their lap, yea, thats kinda creepy I guess, but it doesn't mean the feature itself is creepy.

That's not to say there couldn't be more post-romance content, but at some point you have to draw a line between an RPG and a dating sim...

After the suicide mission, you can choose to call you LI up using the extranet terminal in your cabin. It's not hard to miss if you don't go around clicking on everything I guess.

But when a feature is designed to appeal to those kinds of creepy people, doesn't the feature itself become creepy? Man this is full blown philosophy stuff.

Unless specifically stated otherwise by the devs, I'm inclined to think that the feature is just an extra thrown in by the devs as a "do with it what you will" sort of thing. If you start thinking that Bioware is (possibly) creepy for (possibly) catering to creepy people, you might end up arguing they shouldn't add any romance content at all. Except possibly for a summary report of how many years they have lived together ever after and how many children they had.

I doubt, "Hey, you know what? We should really incorporate something to appeal to..."

Actually, I can't even think of how to finish that. I don't know what you'd even call that. "roleplaying that they order someone to sit on their lap"? Is that actually a thing?

Don't you know?

Mass Effect 1 is about love!
Mass Effect 2 is all about the booty calls!

I don't find it weird or creepy.

I do however find it useless, I can live without it.

I have nothing against cuddling. It's just the way it was executed, the fact that you were controlling everything...in silence. I half expected to see "press f to grab Thane's crotch" at the end there.

F F F F F F F F F F Why isn't it working! :crying::crying:

First, Sajuro is hilarious.

Second, why the hell are these scenes only for "creepy people", exactly?

Why does this keep getting more confusing?! Why is the cuddling being compared to boob scenes on tv as if they have an equal level of gratuitous content?

There's probably a lot more going on before/after the cut-scene, just cause a 5-second clip shows them on your knee shouldn't mean that's all that took place, use you imagination and insert whatever comments you want.

The fact of the matter probably was that some at Bioware may have made the comment: "Should we have conversations for this scene?" but by that time the VA's had done all their work and it would have been too hard to get them back to add more to that 1 scene, plus the money that would have been involved to create it.

I'm also uncertain how one can compare the passive act of watching tv to manually controlling characters in a video game.

The scenes are awkward. Very much so. But it's just something silly they threw in there, nothing upsetting or "creepy" about it.

Wait, I thought we were being creeped out by the creeped out ones: about what they must be hiding to be creeped out by cuddling.

The ones not bothered by the cuddling are supposed to be the creepy ones?

Not really, "creepy", in either case. I'm just taking advantage of the opportunity to use the word. It doesn't come up that often.

I think, that on completing a Romance, the LI should be in the captain's quarters whenever you go up there, with some new standard dialog.

Wait so you are calling me creepy because you are creeped out by me being creeped out by you people who are creepy? I'm creeped out that you are making these creepy claims.

To be honest, I've never spent a single thought on this subject before.

However, I do feel it's completely natural to call up one's chesire puss - who also happens to be your subordinate - and order them to sit on your lap. Is that not how relationships are supposed to work?
