Shepard's alliance with Cerberus is a bigger deal than some seem to think. The Council considers it treason to work with a known terrorist group, and I'm sure the Alliance does as well. I know, Shepard didn't have a choice, but that doesn't make it better.

And this all stems from the fact that we don't really get to choose to work with Cerberus. We're forced too. Which makes it all the worse.

Jacob:
Decent guy, solid bro, if you're a manShep.  Abilities replicated at least in four other squad members.  Insulted my Femshep with his stupid "Miranda deserves a better man than me - but you don't, so it's cool, right?"  Wrong.  Other than that, he's useful for the upgrade, but not much else.

Thoughtless line is thoughtless.  No seperate line that differentiates between main character gender would have been better.

All it did was make a potentially decent character worse, more's the pity.

Jacob would be cool if he wasn't so a douchebag on his busy line. "I'm not big on forcing these talks commander." urgh. Just made me want to kick him in the face.

no canned line is canned. clearly he got the worst of their break up and it's one of the many lines that are said regardless of shepards gender or character accopanying Shep (like the "collectors are gonna target earth" line on the collector ship mission)

No - at least the others are saying they're busy. Doing their jobs, and whatnot. Jacob just doesn't want to talk to you.

Shepard is kind of a pick for interrupting people while they are working (Jacob maintains the weapons)

Nah everyone else claims they're busy.

Like Garrus and his calibrations. <_<

My choice might be surprising, I don't know. Anyway, I really dislike Joker. Why? My main problem with him is that he is a character made only for comic relief. I hate those kind of characters. They aren't that funny, they're just annoying as hell in my opionion. The second, lesser problem is that he is kind of a jerk. Have you ever asked him what he things of the "people we're picking up"? Everything he has to say about them can be narrowed down to "I don't like him, Huhu". I want him to appear in Mass Effect 3 for the sake of continuity, but I really dislike his character.

I also hate Ashley. Damn xenophobe.

Not everyone is "busy" but most have better reasons than Jacob.  Thane's is "Later.  I'd like to consider what we've already discussed" or something like that.

Jack can be kind of a ****, but, well, Jack.

Tali. Oh. My. God. I hate Tali with a firey passion. She complains all the time, she has an extremely annoying whiney voice, she's naive, and she refuses to see that Quarians were their own downfall. I respect people who like her, but I have no clue how they do. Its really beyond me. She has a cool accent, and thats about it (and her synthesized nazzly voice offsets the cool accent anyways). The first time you meet her in ME1, you pull her out of a jam she created with her own naivete (she really thought she'd meet the Shadow Broker face to face to discuss something of minor importance?), then just tags along. Shepherd basically gets what she needs for her Pilgrammage for her (i thought Quarians were supposed to do the pilgrammage to prove themselves, not for someone to do it for them). Then in ME2, shes pissed you join Cerberus, like she's forgotten youre the reason shes 1) Alive, 2) Even respected by other Quarians. Then she gets irritated if you even mention that the Quarians tried to commit genocide against the Geth, and that really, its the Quarians fault the war started in the first place between them. Then when you bail her out of a charge of treason, all she wants to do is protect her dad. If you do give up the evidence against her dad, she gets pissy (again) even though you just saved her suited ass from exile and being shunned by her entire culture (in which case she just refuses to speak with you the entire rest of the game because she apparently cares more about her father than she does the ENTIRE GALAXY). She obviously is incapable of seeing the larger picture here. Then, after all that, she gets mad that you recruit a Geth to the crew when you meet Legion, and gets mad when he tries to upload (unclassified) info about the Quarians to the geth network, regardless of the fact shes been sending "dead" geth back to the Flotilla, along with mounds of info shes collected on the Geth the entire time you've known her (making her essentially a massive hypocrite). Mordin doesnt **** when I recruit Grunt. Cerberbus personnel dont **** when I recruit aliens (they may be weary, but they dont cause conflict except with Miranda/Jack, a human-human conflict, ironically). So what gives Tali the right to question my actions? One punch to that mask and a cough to the face and shes a goner.

There's only, what, 17 million Quarians, give or take a million? Tali makes me dislike them all. Give me the army of billions of Geth programs (and millions of Geth platforms) over some whiney ungrateful girl, atleast the true Geth are helpful, and their society has a planet of their own. Thats way more helpful against the reapers than some aliens that die outside of their suits. Thats why ever since my first playthrough, I always turn over the evidence to the Quarian Conclave, and I always get Tali killed in the Suicide Mission.

However, I compliment Bioware for envoking such a strong hatred for Quarians in me. I think its really a feat (a good one) that I feel that strongly about a character. It says theyre doing a great job telling a story and leaving the details up for personal interpretation.

In Tali's defense, she is a). young, B). immature, c). overly emotional, d). not a soldier, and e). has been taught from birth to hate and despise the Geth, given an extremely slanted version of how things went down.

As for someone I don't like? Female Shepard when I want her to casually chat up Jacob. I don't want to seduce him, I just want to talk to him, get to know him a little better and not in the biblical sense.

Thats true, but thats all the more reason she shouldnt be on such an important mission. Grunt was taught by the 'Tank Mother' and Okeer to basically orgasm over dead Turians and Salarians, and he's young too (he hadnt done the Rite when you get him, and his headplate isnt fully formed yet), but he doesnt let that interfere with the task at hand. Tali does, more than once. If I were Shepherd for real, Tali wouldve been kicked off the crew within a week for her actions and ungrateful attitude.

Could not agree more. Except that I hate her accent too. My canon Shepard kills her every single time. There is no character in the ME universe that I hate/dislike as much as Tali. Even Harbinger is better..at least he has some funny lines.

And "One punch to that mask and a cough to the face and shes a goner." is pure gold

1. Grunt - To me, he's nothing more than an attempt at Wrex replacement, minus the awesome.  That jackass owes me a new window.  He had potential for a lot of character development with the whole "puberty" and "finding meaning in his life" subplot, but once that's over he reverts back to his usual wannabe-toughguy routine.  Complete waste of a party member slot.

2. Conrad - Mass Effect's answer to the Adoring Fan from Oblivion.  Except you can't chuck him off a cliff!  Shooting him in the foot makes for epic LOLs though.

3. Ashley.  All things considered, she's actually a pretty deep and interesting character.  Her constant bigotry is a bore though.  I would have liked her more if her racism was approached like her faith in God - mentioned in a couple of conversations rather than every time you talk to her.

4. Garrus - Like Ashley, I actually quite like Garrus.  The only thing I can't stand is that if you play as a Paragon Shepard, you're pretty much wasting your time with Garrus, seeing as he reverts to his old, vengeful self in ME2.

5. Jacob's dad - I mean seriously, the guy's just a terrible, terrible person

Zaeed Massani- He was a complete douchebag on his loyalty mission. His needless sacrifice of innocent workers for his own selfish revenge made him impulsive, reckless, and out of control.

Jacob Taylor- Boring, lacks character depth, stand-offish ("I'm not big on forcing these tasks")

Kaidan Alenko- Boring! Seriously, he made a story about him killing his former teacher boring. He also hated like a self-righteous twit on Horizon.

Ashley Williams- Wow, an abrasive tough girl with a chip on her shoulder thats new! Just like Kaidan, she acted like a self-righteous twit on Horizon.

Joker dislikes people ? Wow, must have missed it on his assessments of Garrus, Tali, Zaeed ( "just like you, but takes cheques "), Kasumi and even Jacob ("Way too nice for all the myriad ways he can probably kill you" ). he is even neutral about Grunt ("not a stablizing influence"... do tell !). that's fully  half of the squad.

And I'd somehow expect a character nicknamed "Joker" to be rather snarky (in an insightful way) about the oher people aboard.
