Sim City 4 is not exactly a strategy game, but I like it too. I built two cities last week :)

Played more games when I was younger - so this list'll contain some older games many people might not even recognize... :?

1. Master of Orion II
2. Star Control II
3. Civilization IV
4. Alpha Centauri
5. Casar III
6. Civilization III
7. Master of Magic
8. Romance of the Three Kingdoms II
9. Civilization II
10. Defender Of The Crown

Civilization V will probably make it pretty high on that list, but i only just bought it, and haven't had time to play it much at all.

1. Civilization (any pc version, i've played them all since the original)

2. Steel Panthers: World at War (free upgrade to the 90's classic. Very HC)

3. Master of Orion II (I actually played this last summer, as I figured out a way to get it running on Win7x64)

4. Fantasy General (oldie but goldie, unfortunately doesn't seem to run on modern machines)

In no particular order:

Civilization V

Civilization IV

Civilization III

Sins of a Solar Empire

Master of Orion

Jagged Alliance 2

Age of Wonders

Master of Magic

Rome: Total War

Risk (WHAT? You didn't say it HAD to be a video game, and it's still Turn-based strategy!)

hmm I'm not sure I've played 10 strategy games...

1)Heroes of Might and Magic 2 (can and do still play this game today!)

2)Warcraft 3

3)Age of Empires 2

4)Heroes of Might and Magic 3

5) StarCraft

6)Age of Mythology

7)Heroes of Might and Magic 5

Pretty sure those are the only ones I've really took the time to play.

Can't do top ten lists.

Homeworld - Any time I get into a discussion about space battle tactics, it makes me want to replay Homeworld.

The Ancient Art of War

Risk is lightweight. I go with Diplomacy.

Alpha Centauri was also a much better successor for Civilization than most of the Civilization successors.

I think it was similar to Caesar series. I was playing Caesar III 10 years ago, but I lost the CD!

@ Swordfishtrombone
yes I remember some of those. Civilization II - Test of Time was a great game too, but Civ 3 had convinced me that It is better.
