In no particular order:
1. The Boss, MGS3--Incredibly talented, intelligent, and taught Big Boss the tools of the trade.....oh, and she's not a piece of cheese cake.
2. Olga, MGS2--Another talented woman warrior. I love her accent and role in Sons of Liberty. Such a sad story though....
3. Alex Vance, Half Life 2--An intelligent, compassionate woman who does not drag the player down when acting as a companion. I also like her spunkiness.
4. Commander Shepard, Mass Effect--Well this is a no-brainer. A capable woman that is not overly sexualized? Hell yeah!
5. Samus, Metroid series--She fascinated me as a child and I loved the big reveal at the end of Super Metroid.
6. Princess Peach, Mario series---Okay, she's not like any of the above and doesn't always stray too far from the damsel archetype but damn if I can't stop choosing her in Mario Kart and Smash Brothers!
7. Bishop, Raindbow Six Vegas 2---It took me by surprise that the main character is a woman in charge of her own squad! And the fact that the main villain had mommy issues because of her role....haha!
8. Joanna, Perfect Dark---sensing a trend here with no-nonsense, skilled women soldiers, anyone?
.
.
Still thinking about some other characters. Is it a little sad that I'm having trouble with the list?

Nice thread! Topics like these always remind me of how little I have played compared to other gamers.
