Up till now, I was convinced Fiona was Alistair's mother. But I'm replaying DAO right now and I spoke to Loghain about Alistair and he spoke as if Rowan was alive when Alistair was born. So that means there's another heir to the throne nobody knows about. Do you think this will get any mention in DA2 ?

Or maybe Loghain didn't know the whole story and was just told that Alistair was born then. Or it could just be a mistake on the writers' part

idk, i feel as if fiona doesnt ever even existed in the lore because she is never even hinted at in the game. I guess thats the way its supposed to be because that was what she wanted for him. I never actually spoke to logain(i always killed him) but its a possibility i guess because Maric liked to spread his seed around a lot.

As far as i remember David Gaider said that the game should have a story that anyone would understand without reading the books. So if Alistair would be presented as Fiona's son, some will be like "Who's that?" and she would need some introducing...

Why didn't you just post on the DAO forums?

This is a whole story set in the the Free Marshes expanding the scope of the universe beyong Ferelden.

Because he asked if we think it'll get expanded on in further games.

Reading seems to be a hard concept these days.

It's becoming a lost art.  Skimming is the thing.  Speed reading, the downfall of society.  <_<

more like topic reading then jumping to mass and often irrational conclusions.

Then it's me.    I actually skimmed the OP and just checked out what people were saying till I got to you and went back to actually read it.

Simple fix.

Either the game made a mistake (quick retcon by ignoring Loghain), the book made a major mistake (completely ruining Maric's motivations and feelings about Rowan's death), or there is a third child out there.

Edit: I'm hoping for the third. A Theirin child who is not dead or has the blight coursing through him? Sounds great, the legend of Calenhad endures! (possible spelling errors)

Loghain was not at court while Rowan was queen. It was stated in the Stolen Throne. Whatever he says about Maric's affairs may be based on rumors, and his guilt or jealousy concerning Rowan. It might be easier to justify everything that has happened by making Maric the bad guy.

But I agree that we will most likely never get an answer concerning Fiona's child in game. Wish we could hear some news about a new book...

I feel pretty confident that Alistair is NOT Maric and Fiona's son. I believe that is a third one child. I don't think it'll be mentioned in DA2... doesn't seem to fit the storyline. However, I don't think it will be forever overlooked by Bioware.

Seems to me, one of the interviews said that we will hear new info about Fiona and Maric in DA2 (or in later games? I'm not quiet sure). So I hope there will be something )))

One for every future Dragon Age game to be released, ever. And the bastard'll be a party member every single time. The red thread running throughout the Dragon Age games is not Thedas, or the Darkspawn, or even Flemeth. It's Maric's countless bastard children. And just when you think it's over, up pops a new oneImage IPB.

I hope one of 'Maric's infinite number of children' is Anders. I really do.

I suspected it considering they all look the same (Cailan/Alistair/Anders).

In one of the PAX chats David Gaider said Alistair and Anders aren't related.

So, IMO they ran out of ideas and just copy pasted their personalities, much like Velanna and Morrigan

Who is making Maric out to be a bad guy? I don't see how having some bastards makes him "bad," I mean, he did care for all his children and made it so they lived just fine.

That, and they were lazy as hell with the character design, then. Because even physically Anders reminded me a lot of both Cailan and Alistair.

Wynne: And any child born to a Circle mage belongs to the Chantry.©

So her son probably became a templar, but not a mage in the same Circle..
