i get that it is stupid powerful, but even with all the heavy weapon ammo upgrades you can only fire it once so i used it once or twice but now i never use it, is there anyone who feels the same and if you do use can you tell me what i am missing besides the huge explosion.

I don't mind using the cain only a few times because otherwise it would trivialize the entirety of the game. Mini-boss battles are all OSKOs with the cain, and if the enemy manages to survive you can guarantee all his flunkies will be dead and they'll be down to at least half.

The big explosion is all you need due to the fact that for the most part you don't need heavy weapons at all in this game, so you may as well use the one with the biggest bang when you do use it.

Cain isn´t very useful sure its good against long range boss enemies like Thresher maw or Human reaper but those enemies go down easy enough with revenant or mattock (inferno ammo applied) even on insanity, Widow anti materiel rifle isn´t half bad either.

wow i never used it on the core, i'll have to give it a try, but what i am saying is that it is not a bad weapon but the amount of time you can use it, most time you'll use it once then run out of ammo, even if you find more ammo you can't use it bucause it has to be 100% to be use, just i be using it once and switching to another heavy than trying to get more ammo for it.

Heavy weapons aren't something around which I feel I can form my playstyle. I only use heavy weapons once in a blue moon anyway, so I might as well use the heavy weapon that was tailored for it.

Only times I use it are against Terminator + Thresher Maw (time-consuming and not very challenging) and the crate mission (impossible to get 20 without it). I try to minimise heavy weapon use since I don't want to cheese the game too much.

yeah that makes sense, but you seriously never used it on the core it amazing instead of fight off about 100 husks and waiting for thing to open again you can usally use it on the first or second time depending on if the husks are surrounding you at first but if your squadmates hav not dropped on you the husks tend to go after them. so i gueess the point to that paragraph is its a timing thing and I would recomend using the cain on the reaper core

I've used the Cain exactly two times... once for the human reaper and once for the gunship on Kasumi's LM. I failed miserably with the reaper, completely missing the shot, then I ran around to pickup some more heavy ammo... then I missed the shot again (ugh). After those attempts I ended up not really using any heavy weapons at all, I occasionally use the missile launcher, grenade launcher, and the Avanche, but I usually just find ways to defeat any tough fights the hard way instead. For me, I like discovering tactics and trying out different builds, so using the Cain seems like I'd be wasting those opportunites.

I dont use it either. I prefer the collector particle beam that seams to work really well and has a lot of ammo.

I really don't get all the love for the collector particle beam. I've tried it several times but on the enemies you really want it for it takes an insane amount of ammo to bring em down. Both in my original collector platform vid and in my low level vanguard horizon vid I had to use up practically the entirety of my heavy weapon ammo to take out ONE scion when I could have killed both and all the husks with one cain shot had I had it available.

That is true but its versatile. I would use it a little on the scions and take it down and then use my shotgun. Then also i could use it on harbanger and other things i wanted to get rid of quickly. While not the strongest it does serve a useful purpose while the cain i mean you have one shot and then what?

It's very situational. Generally, I only use it on the Thresher Maw and the Human Reaper.

I'm much more partial to the Avalanche, as it gets insane (8x!) damage multipliers on shields, armor and barriers and freezes groups of unprotected opponents (great for husks). Plus, it doesn't go through ammo like the Cain does.  You also cannot blow yourself up with it!

I have done a few of plays through the game where I did not use the Cain, because I wanted to prove to myself that I could take down, say, the Thresher Maw without it. But having proven to myself (at least as a soldier, infiltrator, and adept) that I can do it, I now only every carry the Cain once I get it (thanks to Zaeed's mission, I have it from the first recruitment), and use it to make the game play through a bit faster.

However, there are some fights that it simply takes the fun out of. The final boss in Overlord is a good example. One Cain shot trivializes what should be (and is, if done with normal weapons) a fairly epic fight. I've never tried in LotSB, but I'm willing to bet that (if it doesn't blow you up during the boss fights) it trivializes them as well.

For those that have LotSB, when you first enter the ship, fire it down the hall.

Best weapon effect ever.

I like the weapon, but I only use it for the final boss.

I employ it on the Collector Ship Praetorian, since thermal clips vanish into the floor texture throughout that whole mission, so I just don't have the ammo on-hand to chew through that thing manually. Hell, I'm usually relying on the last magazine in the Carnifex, a few loads for the Katana, and melee attacks on the husk rush near the end even when I do Cain my way past the crabtank.

It is the quintessential heavy weapon.

A great, great deal of damage, which you can only use rarely.

There are times i take different weapons (my Adept has developed an emotional reliance on the Arc Projector) but the Cain is so sweet.

The Cain is probably the only heavy weapon I use with any regularity.

I don't really like the look of it however, so I don't bring it unless I'm going to use it. Most of the time then I have the Missile Launcher or Collector Particle Beam, because I think they look nicer on Shep.

Tried it once. Saw no point in it.

I used to not use Cain at all (after I killed myself the first time) then I learn that after heavy-ammo upgrade 5~6 it automatically replenishes heavy weapon ammos after missions. Since then XD I am using it every mission; especially the last kill for the mission - doesnt matter what the target is - just for fun ^_^ and it is a lot of fun!

I use the Cain very rarely. I can probably count on one hand the number of times I've used it across several playthroughs.

I don't use heavy weapons very often, but I prefer the Grenade Launcher (simple, straightforward, good ammo, kills husks in one shot). I use the Arc Projector and Avalanche from time to time and I'll take the Blackstorm for the lulz.

I think the problem with the Cain is it just isn't very practical. There are few enemies in the game where using it on them isn't overkill. It's huge blast radius and long charge up mean that it's easy to screw up a shot and it's ammo usage is offensive.

Compare it to stuff like the avalanche and the Arc Projector and it becomes a question of whether it's an effective use of ammo. I still like it though, the nuke effect is awesome :D
