Yea, this is bad news regarding dragon age origins. I am really worried it'll end up like Metal Gear Solid 4

some german guy said this:

"Overall the campaign takes 30-40 hours divided in roughly:
- 40% fights
- 30% cut-scenes and conversations
- 20% Character-management (leveling up and so on.
- 10% Exploration)"

Rpg's need to have a lot of exploring in them.  I fully endorse lots of cinematics and conversations, but I want to explore the world and do tons of optional dungeons and sidequests.  In addition to only 10% of the game being exploration, the german guy also said there isn't a great deal of items and gear, just a little bit.  This is very disappointing.  There are nintendo 64 games with tons of items from drops and quest rewards.  Half of the items are from dlc codes.

Dragon age origins will be a great game I'm sure of, and will win rpg of the year in 2009 and maybe this decade, but i want more rpg elements like exploring and grinding for items.

I don't want Dragon Age Origins to be like metal gear solid 4 and be 93.7% cutscenes, which is confirmed by a number of credible sources.

why does germany get dragon age origins before america?  I am proud american and shop at gamestop with pride.  I will predorder dragon age origins out of kindness, so why don't we get this first?

One of the developers have said that it's more linear than BG2 but less so than KOTOR. Remember reviewers generally rush through games so it's quite likely he simply missed a lot of the sidequests (generally most exploration is part of sidequests).

I stopped reading when Nintendo 64 game-level drops were recommended. I just can't put value in drops when they're so many. Rare drops give them more value.

And Germany doesn't get the game before anyone else (in fact I think Europe gets it after North

America, although I'm curious as to why you think you are entitled to the game before German fans) it sounds like that reviewer is imply one of the first to post reviews. For example Game Informer (an American Magazine) has already published a review.

And I can't believe anyone still reads these topics, Every topic started by flamechamp23 is exactly that. A flame. I mean it almost starts out with a valid point but he can never help making it.... unbearable.

If you cared to read the whole thread where you found what you just copied, you would have seen that they raced through the game without doing any side quests. That naturally leaves no room for exploration.

If you want "grinding for items" - may I suggest Aion and not a single player RPG? Diablo 3 might also be worth the wait.

you're entilted to your opinion. personally, i enjoy RPGs just as much when it's mostly exposition and not so much wandering.

30-40 hours is way off the mark compared to other reviews. If they could possibly have done it in that then they must have raced through and on the easiest difficulty. No wonder theres a high percentage of cut scenes (which take the same length of time no matter how quickly you play through). The average review suggests about 70 hours and the offical says 60-120 hours depending how much you want to explore and do the side quests.

So given that the game is probably 3 times longer than they've suggested, you can divide the cutscene % by 3 and greatly increase the others.

I'm skeptical of the rationality and purposefullness of this post.

You did, however, at least bring up the review (or whatever it is) for discussion at this site.  For another take on the discussion at the old place: daforums.bioware.com/viewtopic.html

Well, going by your quotes there, it's saying that the main campaign is 10% exploration, nothing about how side quests factor in.

On your second note..do we really need to be nationalistic about a game release? It's actually releasing a few days later in Europe.

Because Bioware is a Canadian company that is not bound by notions of American national pride ? Maybe Bioware gave DA:O to Germany just to ****** Americans off, you know how those Canadians are. And is Bioware really releasing it early In Germany.

Maybe you should hold a tea bagging protest at Bioware, Austin Texas office. I am sure a lot of teabaggers will join you.

Note: It has been said that this was because he focused on the main plot or campaign and didn't do the side stuff.
