i remember somme time ago someone manage to hex edit mass effect 2(pc) to be able to recruit any squad member from the start with out damageing the game to much. i did one run like this but now i cant find the guide to do it again. it was somewhere on these forums. please help ^^

I would just get Gibbed's Save Editor. It does the same thing only without having to find each line and each relevant piece of code.

In order to be able to recruit any squadmate whenever, check both miranda's and jacob's alternate appearance check box in the henchman quest flags area. This will unlock the ability to recruit any squadmember at any time, but you have to uncheck one or the other in order to do Horizon and the Collector vessel.

EDIT: There should be a link to Gibbed's save editor in one of the Modding is Possible threads, likely Modding is Possible II, not III

Gibbed's Save Editor is a hex editor, just with a very user-friendly GUI.

Sure do wish I knew why the save I created with it started the game with Shredder Ammo, though...

thanks a lot for the replys last time i use gibbeds i had the old one and could only add sqaud mates buut ended up loseinng there recruitment quests. will try what you said ^^

edit: starting the game by recruiting tail and garrus first is just to much fuun for me ^^

Yeah one of the old forumites, Ecael I believe, started a thread on hex editing it and then another guy did some trial and error and found that checking the two check boxes I mentioned had the effect of unlocking the galaxy map and allowing to player to recruit whoever whenever.

Like I said though, you have to uncheck one or the other in order to do Horizon and the Collector Vessel. Otherwise you will only be able to do the Reaper IFF and Collector Base.

EDIT: Also, in order to do Horizon, you have to have recruited the first four squadmates. Garrus, Jack, Mordin, and Grunt. Otherwise, the game will wait until you get them.

so i could do recruiting like:Tali/Garrus/Mordin/Jack/Grunt then do horizon right? ^^play like this with the old hexing and talis got so much extra dialogue. if i recruit legion early with it damage the IFF mission?

What I do is simply say that Legion has been recruited and then correct that before doing the IFF mission. If you do the IFF mission, you will trigger the consequences.

As for the first part, yes, you could.

I recommend subscribing to interesting threads. That way you won't lose them.

The lack of a more than rudimentary search function on this site is annoying. On most other forum sites I can do a full text search and search for text within a thread. I wonder why they made that impossible here.

this forums are a bit buging like with the 2x posting and the like. i know a had seen a hexing topic and remember part of its name but could not find it T_T. and atlest i got it now ^^
