One thing I found a little disappointing in DA:O were the ugly and odd looking female pregenerated faces in the character creator. Will it be possible to have prettier faces this time around for DA 2?

No no, Bioware loves ugly. Don`t expect much.

Personally I find Bethany quite attractive in the screenshots we have seen so far, also apart from the bug eye shots Cassandra looks quite good as well.

At leat female faces looked better then males in the cc. As for NPCs I think Anora was the prettiest? What you guys think? I Iona was alright too....

As for PCs, one need not look further than Anarya's avatars.

In DA:O I used a mod so I could use Anora's face for my own PC. Still not all that pretty but better than the standard faces. It would be nice if we could make a pretty PC this time without having to use mods.

Supposedly DA2 has modifed/improved templates which are used to generate individual faces. Whether they're also better looking remains to be seen i guess.

Think i saw a screenshot from DA2 character creator not long ago with default female Hawke in it, so maybe won't have to wait too long for some more screenshots.

I think the female screen shots of the Hawke family make it look promising

Females were better off than males in that department, at least IMO. The male morphs were all either sunken-cheeked or ridiculously wide-chinned. It took me forever to create any face that was at least passably attractive. And playing on the console, it wasn't as thought I could mod in a better morph.

Don't see what the problem with pregenerated faces is.. A couple of slider tweaks and you should have a face you'd like. Also have you seen the FemHawke screenshot? Admittedly it's not the most flattering angle but unless you're expecting mythical beauty, which is a pretty subjective thing all the same, she doesn't look too bad.

This is so true! the one time I tried to make a male character I was shocked at how little options there is, the morphs were not very flattering :/ and as soon as you attached a beared the cheeks sunk

The default Hawke is absolutely lovely, I don't think you have to worry about not being able to make pretty a pretty character.

Seeing what some community members pulled off when the character creator was first released, I thought the limiting factor in creating pretty faces was me. I tended to use the same face with every human woman, and made minor tweaks each time to improve it. BioWare's face morphs could be perfection. It would not help me much unless I went with a default, and I never do since then it feels less like my character.

Posted ImagePosted ImageQFT.  I'd like better looking characters in general.  I didn't think males looked that great either. I'm looking forward to seeing what the new face morph system look like.  Going by the characters we've seen so far, I think they look pretty nice.

After i've seen FemHawke i have no worries for what it's going to come. And if you look at the family screenshot, Carver is not that bad either, he is young but he is pretty.

What is the definition of Pretty?

Some people like the faces very "earthy"

The only faces that need some modifications are the male faces, the female faces are just fine. I feel like all the male faces kind of looked the same. Whenever i see a face on the forums i sort of feel like wow that guys character looks just like mine.

I didn't think DAO's cc was that bad, but it definitely has much room for improvement. Things like the sunken cheeks being automatic if you want a beard for males were particularly bad. Overall I had less trouble making a female character I liked the appearance of than a male character, but here's hoping the improvements for DA2 are across the board. Lady Hawke and Bethany both look great so far so I'm hopeful.

I found it was easy for me to develop an athetically pleasing female human and dwarf. I could never get the female elf quite to my satisfaction however. In game, there were numerous pretty NPC's, such as Nessa, Bella, Shianni, Petra, Morrigan, Anora, etc.

The thing I wonder is did she use any PC mods, or is that just base game?

I didn't think the female presets were really that bad. Some of the stranger ones allowed you more range with the sliders. Beauty is so subjective that I don't think they could make presets to satisfy everyone if they tried.

What I would rather have is more control of the sliders, better skin tones/makeup, and better LIGHTING.

What? I thought most of the women in DA:O were quite pretty already. We need uglier ones, if you ask me. Oh you were speaking of the pre-generated ones. Have you seen the men? They were uglier. The pre-generated females are definitely better looking but I agree there's room for improvement there.

I think pretty is above normal and scary. So you won't go like:

"Holy maker- - - -!" or "Myeah...next!"

I can just imagine a convo like that

Varric: You know Hawke's family is a...
Cassandra: Interesting bunch?
Varric: NO! Fugly! The ugliest beings i ever saw in my hole life...But you can call them interesting if you want...
