I don't know...the character faces look off to me from what little we've seen. The eyes sort of bug out of their head or give that Uncanny Valley zombie/dead eye stare. And its like the skin looks rubbery or overly smooth such that it doesn't look natural. Hopefully that changes between now and release.

I mean look at Bethany's eyes here!

Call me nuts, but the one on the right looks fine.  The one on the left - that's an odd look, but it's one moment - I've seen real, actual people - some pretty good looking ones - who look like the ugliest, weirdest people in a single picture.

And yea - I don't know which one is Bethany.  Sue me.

It's not finished guys. Bioware mostly avoided the uncanny valley in ME2 and DA. I love Fem Hawke's facial features, although the short hair will be long and blonde in my game...please oh please give us long hair. :innocent:

~edit~

Am I the only one who likes my action heroes to be, and to look like stone cold butches? I don't want my sword-wielding badass to be a fairy princess on the side.

I don't know. I see a lot of people asking for more girly leads (especially in ME2... I personally loved that my femShep walked like a linebacker). I hope my hero doesn't sashay into battle, or at least that we'll have a choice in the matter.

Release the update for the toolset or give us full access to all the sliders in Dragon Age's face morph system.

I can make faces just fine, I need the proper tools to do it though.

Not having a toolset and just using the CC to make your characters does not render the game unplayable, even though I like using the toolset for my characters.

If not having a pretty enough toon makes you not want to play the game, then go play The Sims Medieval or something.

This a thousand times over until the universe explodes, Bioware.

What? I thought most of the women in DA:O were quite pretty already. We need uglier ones, if you ask me. Oh you were speaking of the pre-generated ones. Have you seen the men? They were uglier. The pre-generated females are definitely better looking but I agree there's room for improvement there.

No we dont need uglier girls, we already have dwarven women:devil:

I saw nothing wrong with the faces of women DA:O. All were pretty decent and it's not hard to make a pretty looking female warden.

I admit that some NPC were rather ugly but I'm not playing this game because I want to see "gorgeous" looking women.

not that hard to make good looking faces though it is quite a bit harder on consoles and that has to addressed on DA2.

ps: well i don't think i did a bad job on my current avatar either considering i play on a console (ps3)

I found it easier to make decent looking female wardens than males.

Though making a female Elf who doesn't look really angry or about to burst into tears is very difficult.

I like the fact that not everyone in Dragon Age looked like a photo-model (even though the warden party mostly consists of good looking people).

Hmm, where did I say that an ugly toon doesn't make me want to play the game? I would prefer to play a pretty PC though, real life already is average enough.  The only thing that will stop me from playing an RPG is if I can't play a female character at all. Five minutes into the Witcher I uninstalled it,  I'm weird like that.

ps. I hate the sims.

@adneate: I love your character, wish I could make something like that. Unfortunately I totally suck at using the morphs in the toolset.

I thought the ladies looked good in origins particularly Anora. Even though I normally suck at making good looking characters in the cc I was able to make a couple I felt satisfied with in Origins, without mods at that.

As for PCs, one need not look further than Anarya's avatars.

The thing I wonder is did she use any PC mods, or is that just base game?

Aw shucks guys ^_^

I used mods but her face was actually made in the vanilla CC before I installed the toolset.

Stuff that's modded on her: the black eyeliner, hairstyle, eyecolor. I also have the mod that changes the iris texture on all characters in the game (and the whiter teeth one but you can't see that in my av).

So, you can get pretty close without mods, actually.

 Where in my post does it say that you did? It was a general "you", not a "you that refers specifically to Evainelithe".

That's because she both vaguely resembles Michael Jackson and has permanent pedosmile. Anyone would be creeped out by that. Posted Image

With the toolset giving me access to all of the sliders, I don't have a problem making pretty females. I actually have a much more difficult time making good-looking guys that don't look somewhat similar to Alistair/Anders. I usually settle for "interesting" of good-looking.

EDIT: What I mean is, I'd like better options for the guys, in terms of hair and beard--not just prettier hair for the girls.
