I mean, why not? All they;d have to do is release a character creator before the game content is lock... oh, nevermind.

You know Shorts? One day you're NOT going to outsmart yourself, you're going to release a good idea and NOT follow it up with a reason for why it won't work or go ahead.

Hell yes! I spent ages trying to get a character to look as good as that, and never even came close.

I think I could, the problem is I haven't really found a custom eyes mod that didn't strike me as garish and unrealistic. And quite possibly my only striking feature is my eyes, so that's saying something*. Granted, that's a subjective opinion and what I find most impressive about Anarya's avatar is how perfect the chin and jaw structure are considering that's what usually gives me the biggest problems, for example my attempts at Emmy Rossum clones end up looking like they have Dolph Lundgren's jaw, and so on. Also the pose is very important, most of these character photos we all have - mine included - are really limited in a number of ways.
But more importantly having to go through the relatively minor but progressively more frustrating ordeal of sitting through some unskippable cutscene just to see the fruits of my character creation labors in relatively normal lighting and/or standing still (thankfully DA and ME toons do not perpetually emote during creation unlike some games) that I just get tired of it before I end up with something truly fantastic. Or by the time I do, I've already completed the game with some other character numerous times and have simply moved on.
Not to mention that I apparently never stumbled across the hair mod that Anarya used. That style is about perfect for the kind of toons I like to design. Again with those kinds of mods I have an issue with most I run across - as I am utterly incapable of modding such things myself - being way too over the top or completely out of character. Granted this rant is based more on the selection of mods for Fallout 3 and New Vegas that seem to all rely on me suspending disbelief and imagining that my female toon spends an hour putting on makeup and has regular appointments at the Wasteland Salon to justify whatever appearance such mods would give her. Guys at least have the advantage of being able to combine scruffy and attractive quite easily. I can pull that off in my toons, and it can make some kind of contextual sense in a lot of settings. In games it seems that a naturally beautiful woman without makeup or elaborate hairstyle is probably the hardest thing to pull off for me, especially if I try to also make her look unique. It's a fun challenge, though.
* Granted if a photorealistic copy of my eyes was an option in a game I'd probly think they were garish and unrealistic. So feel free to ignore this part.
TLDR: Don't bother, it's just me ranting.

More selecetion options for noses, eyes, hair, eyebrows, including extended color ranges.
Also, the folowing:
1. More Eye adjustments: adjust eyes depth (similar to the nose depth adjustment)
2. Selectable eyelashes (length, fan, etc)
3. More mouth adjustments; adjust mouth depth (similar to the nose depth adjustment)
4. Hair styles; I like to see more especially those that don't hide the characters face in a profile shot, and some that would expose the ears as well.

You must hate the Oblivion/Fallout charater creation. Eye size and angle change independent of user intention based on brow height, brow angle, nose width, cheek height, cheek width, forehead depth, and forehead size. And that's before you even touch the section labeled "Eyes."
And the only way to adjust mouth depth is to make the entire face heavier or lighter.
How do I know you probably hate it? Because I do. For just these reasons. Thankfully I can pop open the console and type "showracemenu" an unlimited number of times to edit my toon in a variety of lighting conditions until I somehow - likely accidentally - come up with something good.

Ah there it goes. The mod. It's the only style in hair pack #2.
Other mods on Anarya:
Bidelles Cosmetics
CS New Eyes
LOTCs Default Eye Texture
White Teeth (my dad is a dentist....)
Oh yeah! And this thing is great: DA Face Replacer. It lets you extract faces from existing games as well as change the face of an existing character, so you don't have to go through the intro every time you want to see a new morph.
And I don't know what your actual eyes look like but This mod has one good texture. It's the topmost one in the preview image. The others are kinda over-the-top for my tastes but that one is very nice.

The DA:O graphics engine could stand a little improvement in realistic faces, but not necessarily in the direction of "prettier"

I wouldn't know since I never bothered with those games... but I have heard that folks complain about it in those games.
The capabilities I ask for exists in the DAO toolset. just not at character creation, and allows for other tweaks and adjustments as well. Ever notice the Elf ears in the game? The PC elf ears are flatter against the skull while NPC elves have more exaggerated ears, all of my requested adjustments can be made in the toolset by PC Users, but as far as custom content (mods) I tend to ignore most of them.
But don't get me wrong in my request, character creation isn't bad in DA, I just think it could have been a bit more in the way of options and and adjustments.
Anaya, please note that some of our console-player cousins don't have the advantage of the toolset and use of custom content to the extent we PC players have.

Release the update for the toolset or give us full access to all the sliders in Dragon Age's face morph system.
I can make faces just fine, I need the proper tools to do it though.
Oh look it's Anora with different eyes and hair color
Or Morrigan maybe?
hmm
So you took a preset fae made by bioware and changed some stuff..Big deal
Not impressed.

On the PC (which is better in every way), I quickly got a few mods that helped me create prettier women, as well as a bunch of handsome (and some impossibly pretty xD) men. I hope that the character creator in DA2 facilitates this more without the need for mods. I really hope it's not like Mass Effect, where the default male face is like... ridiculously hot (shoot me, the type just strikes a cord with me

@shorts: I was going to link the mod for this hairstyle but I can't get the nexus to load right now. Anyway it's called "Don't Worry Be Hairy" and it's in file #2 I think. You need the toolset to put it on your character.

One of my peeves...seeing a movie set in feudal times and everyone has perfectly straight, sparkling white teeth.

Are teeth really that white in DA:O? I remember cringing at just how yellow the teeth of a lot of people were.

The only thing reminiscent of Anora is the hair-style and of Morrigan is the lip and eye-shadow colour.

By default they aren't and yes, they're pretty overdone given the average character met in game are in 20-30 years age bracket. That was addressed pretty fast by the mods but then these tend to overdo it in the other direction. The Lesser Evil wrote...

Seeing what the community has been able to do with mods I don't see why Bioware cannot put more effort into the how characters look.

Boils down to time limits, i suspect. They aren't making just haircuts, or face textures, or whatever little part of the game a single mod can focus on, but the whole game. As such, there's limited amount of resources that can be put into every single part.Guillerms wrote...

I think they need to add many more haircuts and beards, both for the sake of making cool characters and having a large variety of npcs.

I remember reading some story about the reason why there are so many facial hair options in Fallout 3 is one of the artists got bored one day and on his own accord made a gajillion of them. They weren't all planned, but since he made them anyway they went into the game.
Cool story bro.
