Feast Day pranks are also good for not-so-saintly Wardens who are too impatient to wait until her approval gets that low naturally and also don't want to drag her around.

That goes without saying. Though less than saintly characters can just kill her when you meet her at the tower.

It baffles me that Bioware forces you to kill Wynne to avoid her joining your party, not that I mind doing so.

uhhhh, in literature, authors intentionally make characters one way or another. for instance, some characters you like and others you strongly dislike, like in life. i think wynne is alright, if people are really losing it from a video game character, then how do you put up w/ jerks in real life? so some characters you like more then others, thats fine. however, there would be a lack of depth if everybody was as likable as zevran, or whoever you particularly liked. (hee hee, for me, sten always found a way in my parties though :)

And when did anyone say that they were having difficulty coping with Wynne's existence? Complaining about her is a lot of fun and, unlike in real life, if you don't want to put up with her in the game you can:

a) kill her

B) refuse to let her come along

c) drive her approval down and get her to leave

d) just ignore her existence.

Seriously, the whole 'OMG, if you don't like a fictional character then you must have trouble coping with reality' line of thinking is just absurd.

She doesn't get our knickers in a twist. She's very realistic, and a great character--and when people talk to me like that IRL I give it back to 'em. The Warden doesn't really have any options to do so, unless you want to babble about griffins.

Who's losing anything?  We're having fun hating on a character.  We all seem to be reasonably intelligent adults here; there really is no need for you to explain to us that Wynne is a fictional character and what gives fictional characters depth.

Had you read this thread, you would have seen people mentioning how well written she is.  That is why she's so fun to hate.  I don't recall anyone saying they think Wynne as a character should be written differently.

But why would you extrapolate this to real life?  As you felt the need to point out, Wynne is a fictional character in a story.

Edit: Yes, I edited, though probably not enough.

Second edit: I am constantly amazed that people feel the need to come to hate threads and defend the character who is being hated on.  Wynne's feelings aren't hurt, I promise!

When the game was first released, someone was yelling about seeing Wynne in her undies at the sacred urn, and was saying she was all wrinkly.  I pointed out to him that she had no more wrinkles on her body than any of the other human females -- that in fact she had the default human body.

But he saw what he saw.

Making Wynne a LI with a tent scene would have had more people screaming than the Zevran tent scene.  I can just imagine this.  "She asked me to butter her muffin!  I thought that meant she had coordination problems and needed help fixing her dinner!"

Yeah, I find it very interesting that some people like Wynne solely because of the griffon conversation. While I like getting to bug her about griffons, her reaction of getting all annoyed that I wanted to make her lecture interesting and I definitely do not appreciate being called a child, particularly if I only use the griffon line once.

That's not bad. I once sold my soul for a Playstation 1, and my ex broke it a week later.

The Playstation or your soul? :P

I only butter up Wynne as long as it takes for her to get that spell that brings her back from the dead...then all bets are off.

I like Wynne as a character for all her faults she is actually pretty interesting when she's not Preaching. Unfortunately she's preaching all the time.

Though another great conversation with her is if you ask her if coming with you is what she really wanted.

Wynne actually gains some points back from me when she apologizes for being rude about you and Zevran.

Her line: "Maybe he just let you see it" actually sounded very sincere.

I like Wynne, sure she is a bit preachy sometimes but she's a Grandma figure, so I guess she's supposed to be a bit preachy.

I must say I was really offended when she talked to my character about her relationship with Zev. I was all, uhhh, none of yo' beeswax.

One thing I do miss is the option when talking about Leliana to bring up the fact she used to be a fricking Orlisian Bard.

Wynne's apology is nice for sure.  It's the main reason why she gets to live in my games.

You can tell everyone else to leave! (well except Alistair and dog)

No, you just get three chances to kill her.

1. At the biggining of Circle quest, tell her you're annuling the mages, she's attack.
2. Right before Uldred, Agree with Cullen that the mages must all die.
3. Defile the sacred ashes with her in your party. otherwise, if she's not in your party but you defile the ashes, she confronts you quite nastily, and leaves.

*is still wondering who told her about the PC defiling the ashes* :pinched:

You can't even lie about it for pete's sake!

Wynne's a know-it-all, so speshul the fade shines out her bum. That's how she knew.

I prefer to get her approval high enough where I can get her personal quest, because Anerin does give you a pretty rockin amulet for your troubles. Too bad I always do the Dalish last, after all opportunities to kill her have passed. :(

Sooo, I'm looking through the Leliana breakups, and it occurs to me that there is a missing line to the one that happens after she hits adore. When she's asking for an explanation, trying to figure out exactly why you are breaking up, when she says this...

Leliana: Life is never certain! Nothing is certain but the love you have for others, and the love they have for you. (Passionately.)

Leliana: Love is that... that constant star on the horizon that leads you to safe harbor. Love, friendship... these are the things you hold on to. (With great emotion.)

Leliana: And so you are abandoning our love? Where is the logic here? (Upset.)

Leliana: Death will come for us all, eventually. But does this mean we should never try to love? (Softly, persuasive.)

Warden (I added one of the choices)

1. I'm sorry, Leliana.

2. Maybe when all this is over we can start over?

3. You're right. We should cherish this while it lasts.

4. Wynne told me to. And she's very wise.

I'm planning on creating a character, a mage to boot, who is also a lesbian who will be romancing leliana, who would actually use this response, because she's a total Circle/Chantry tool who actually objects to Duncan trying to take her out of the tower.

Do you think Wynne would have gotten angrier if you had defiled the ashes in another way (say, by peeing in them)? Or was she just angry because it had something to do with Blood Magic?

She would have gotten pissy about it either way. Much as she claims not to be she's super indoctrinated in the faith of the Chantry.
