And yet **** mystics are a staple of any two-fisted tale set during WWII. And unlike dragons existing in mid 20th century europe, Guns have existed since at least the 14th century (if not in Europe, then around the world). And considering that we KNOW that at least one civilization in Thedas already has gunpowder weaponry (the Qunari), it's not hard to believe they may have imported some weapons with them. Why is it so hard to believe one can loot a hand cannon or blunderbuss off the corpse of a Qunari mercenary?Dragoro21 wrote...
Same reason putting a dragon into a ww2 story wouldnt work.
Are there any guns in this game?

Actually, that would be awesome. The nuclear dragon... that grew up to be Godzilla.

How does having a gun make a game any less fantastic?LethalBlade wrote...
Thankfully no. I can't stand steampunk. I like traditional medieval fantasy worlds. Swords and sorcery only, please.
Actually I agree. I hate it when there are guns in fantasy stories. Call me old fashion or main stream. But that's just the way I feel
Am also fairly disappointed Assassins's Creed two will introduce guns. After seeing the diversity of the new combat system though, I'll still be buying it. ;-)

Assassin's creed is, to my knowledge, entirely historical. How can you be disappointed there are guns in renaissance italy when the first game was set during the crusades- the period that introduced guns to Europe!Errel wrote...

I was always opposed to the idea for D&D games, but for DAO, they kinda have less of an excuse besides "it's hard to implement right". Now they can make their own rules on the damned things.

Also, even though there might be guns in the world of Dragon Age, I wouldn't want them in the game. It's clearly not made as steampunk, not that I wouldn't mind a new steampunk RPG as good as Arcanum. I think I might just reinstall that game.
At least once I am done with DA, so not just now.

The qunari are already the equivilent of bipedal rhinos, do they really need guns too?

Nu-uh, it was the other way around. Plate armour was effective against bows and (to a lesser extent) crossbows, and against melee weaponry (swords in particular), but as firearms and their armour-piercing power were introduced in warfare, plate armour was very quickly abandoned - it no longer offered any protection, it had no more benefits and thus the only thing it did was restrict movement.MisanthropePrime wrote...
Guns don't necessitate steampunk. I mean, gunpowder factored into medieval warfare for a very long time. In fact, plate armor was created pretty much to be the only stuff that could stop guns

Doesn't seem all that bad of an idea if done right. If rogues can make traps that shoot lightning, why not a handheld device that shoots lightning? Not exactly a gun, but not that far from it.
I was thinking the same thing. magic powered guns for the none mages of the world. Really why would guns be out of place, I mean were talking about the ones you have to load manually not an AK-47. it would really just be a noisy cross-bow. if the dwarves can makes Golems and mages and shoot lighting from their fingures why wouldn't you be able to have single shot guns.
