I agree with the reasoning and intention for faster and more responsive combat movement. Looking at the gameplay footage here though, the movements of Hawke swinging her sword about and jumping in the air - they're just too snappy and quick, it screams of Dynasty Warrior Redux, and honestly looks stupid.

So, my feedback is - tone down the speed slightly (still considerably faster then DA1 though), and smoothen the transitions of speed. Good reference point is the movie trailer Destiny.

This is rapidly becoming the biggest cop-out since "it was all a dream".

But it's true, though. None of these so-called "leaked" videos continue into the real "world", it's all stopped after the exaggerated scenes. It's almost like these people are trying to make people nerdrage.

I think the problem is though that everyone thats disappointed in seeing the "exaggerated" gameplay have it regurgitated back to them that the "real" gameplay is vastly different. Maybe it is in the mechanics, but it'll look mostly the same, which will  still leave people disappointed if they're thinking the exaggerated gameplay is night and day different than the "real" stuff.

No one dev side has said it's vastly different. It's different, but not vastly. Some may not love the new direction; we're very aware of that. But there are some that do.

Only some? I get the impression that quite many do not like the new direction - a lot more than those who do like the new direction.

Here on the forums, perhaps. Yet at ComiCon at least 10 people out of every group of 20 that played it stood up out of their chair and came over to explicitly tell me how awesome they thought it was to play. And not once was there a group without a sizeable representation of people who had played DA:O in it.

So, yes, I believe that there are quite a few people who enjoy the new direction and think it's a lot of fun. I've met them and signed their posters.

Dammit, now I wish I'd had time to go to PAX. Conventions are a lot of fun.

Wasn't there only like... only one person in all of PAX that voiced their complaints about DA2? I seem to remember that being said by someone in an interview.

Probably, but it's a lot harder to walk up to someone in person and tell them something they worked on sucks. My suspicion is that there were some folks who left the PAX booth wondering why we'd changed things, or somewhat disappointed. But I KNOW there were lots of people who walked out saying: "That was really cool!"

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: you cannot please everyone. I don't try to, because the attempt results in watered-down mush. To use an extreme example, If the singular most important thing to you in Origins was that no one jumped, ever, then this game will disappoint on that front. If, however, you loved the world, story, party, tactical combinations of four party members and feeling like you were having impact on the world, then you'll be just fine.

But don't take my word for it. There's no need to. There'll be more details on the game and story between now and March (and yes, some before January, when the whole signiture edition deadline comes), but we've still got some time between now and then.

Besides, isn't the anticipation lovely?

We've already said that we don't appreciate links to bootleg footage being put up on the forums and treated as representative. We'll put out our own gameplay footage soon, and then you can all proceed to overreact to it at your leisure. :)
