I agree with the reasoning and intention for faster and more responsive combat movement. Looking at the gameplay footage here though, the movements of Hawke swinging her sword about and jumping in the air - they're just too snappy and quick, it screams of Dynasty Warrior Redux, and honestly looks stupid.

So, my feedback is - tone down the speed slightly (still considerably faster then DA1 though), and smoothen the transitions of speed. Good reference point is the movie trailer Destiny.

- It's the exaggerated gameplay.

- 2h animations are slower since then.

- Enemies explode and die in one-two hits because of the exaggerated gameplay.

- Jumping around and such are special abilities and they don't happen as often in real gameplay because the exaggerated sequence has no cooldowns / stamina consumption.

- Bohemian Rhapsody in the backround is awesome.

Ah...ok. Hope to find a non-exaggerated one then.

Haha thought no one would notice that music from Queen.

This is rapidly becoming the biggest cop-out since "it was all a dream".

Either way I'm happy about the changes.  Tired of combat looking too slow.

It seems to be the catch all for trying to assuage fears that its more of a hack and slash action RPG than Origins. Some gameplay of the "real" game would certainly clear up or confirm everyone's suspicions.

But it's true, though. None of these so-called "leaked" videos continue into the real "world", it's all stopped after the exaggerated scenes. It's almost like these people are trying to make people nerdrage.

I think the problem is though that everyone thats disappointed in seeing the "exaggerated" gameplay have it regurgitated back to them that the "real" gameplay is vastly different. Maybe it is in the mechanics, but it'll look mostly the same, which will  still leave people disappointed if they're thinking the exaggerated gameplay is night and day different than the "real" stuff.

No one dev side has said it's vastly different. It's different, but not vastly. Some may not love the new direction; we're very aware of that. But there are some that do.

Except that it won't be "vastly different" aside from cool down timers. Even though 2 handers have been slowed a little bit, the animations will more than likely still look like there's no weight behind them. People need to remember its the speed thats changing not the animations themselves when it comes to 2 handers.

The animations used in the non exaggerated portions of the game aren't any different, so sure the special attacks will happen less often but they'll still more than likely look as over the top silly as they do in the leaked footage.

I highly highly doubt cooldown timer/stamina aside that the "real" portion of the gameplay is going to look all that drastically different at all.

I've been dying to use that image. But in all seriousness, I still don't think it looks that bad. Yes, the animations are more over-the-top than they were in Origins, but at least they're interesting. And to be perfectly honest, realism isn't that important to me in a video game if it's fun. I think the actual gameplay looks the same (taking into account the easiness of the exaggerated portion), but people can't get past the animations. Which is fair, but I don't have a problem with them.

I can get onboard that its just exaggerated gameplay because thats what we'v been told over and over, xD.

What i wanna know is - how "repetitive" will the gameplay/areas be with varric's version and the real version, and how often will it happen!.

Only some? I get the impression that quite many do not like the new direction - a lot more than those who do like the new direction.

I meant more along the lines of you go on forums besides this one and the reaction to the gameplay videos is pretty much the same:

Forum Goer #1: WTF!? BioWare has ruined DA! ARGHHHH!*Wailing and gnashing of teeth ensues*
Forum Goer #2: BLARGGH! You just killed RPGs BioWare! What is this? God of Dragon Effect May Cry? Here we go again with streamlining everything for the console kiddies /facepalm
Forum Goer #3: Well, I like the changes! Origins was too slow and clunky, I hope they make it more like Mass Effect!
Forum Goer#4: You guys do know that footage as from the exaggerated portion of the game right?

The implication being that the claim of the "exaggerated" gameplay is often used to try and reassure those who don't like how the combat looks based on the "exaggerated" portion that the "real" gameplay is more like Origins' pace and look. Whether thats the case or not we don't know until...we see some gameplay videos.

The minority is always the loudest. Look at ME2, people b!tch about it all the time, while in every poll the majority prefers ME2 over ME1 and every user score on every site is higher for ME2 than ME1.

Pretty much this. Somebody who's angry is most likely to yell his anger to everybody else while the content person says "Thank you" and enjoys it.

O.K, the real awnser is:

DA2 don't exist, this is actually the new Jade Empire. They said it was DA2 because the devs were without coffee.

The combat in DA2 does not bother me. There are more flips and such, but it's not like that wasn't in DA:O, it was just more frequent in the exaggerated and probably the rest of DA2. What I'm happy about is that I have yet to see the character lit up like a Christmas Tree of Nuclear Radiation. Still chuckle at how bright orange a Scout can get in Awakening.

And Cimarron won Best Picture while City Lights wasn't even nominated.  The majority gets a lot of things wrong!

Unless you ask every single person who has viewed that video you can't possibly get that impression?

Just because the majority prefer something does not mean it's beter or good *looks at a lot of the FPS*
