you do know that specific sword model was also in DA: origins?

And not all asian rpgs have giant swords, nor are they exclusive to asian rpgs and western games are also guilty of it, even before this...

Read the chart. It sold 961,290 week one.
But EA announced it sold 2 million in the first week.
I'd rather believe EA over that chart.
You'd rather believe the company who has something to gain from fudging their figures than an objecitve source?
Either way, EA reported it SHIPPED 2 million copies, not SOLD. There's a difference.
Obviously considering how swiftly ME2's prices dropped those 2 million shipped copies weren't hopping off the shelves.

Actually the 2 million figure for ME2 was shipped not sold. It was later stated it was only 1.6 million sold (same as ME). Conversely, even before Awakenings had been released, Origins had shipped 3.2 million.Dave of Canada wrote...

If you're going to complain about it, it should be about the width and apparent heft combined with the animation speed, because if you only cite size alone, a simple comparison to the same sword in DAO defeats that argument pretty handily, unless you think they were too big in Origins too, which is a fine complaint, except that most people complaining about the size of the sword in these
edit: this must be the fifth time I've said "trailer" when I meant "gameplay video" on these forums.

Legendary Studio's Newest Title Wins over 30 Industry Awards, Ships Over 3 Million Units Becoming BioWare's Sixth Consecutive Blockbuster Franchise.
From the article:
"announced today that Dragon Age: Origins has sold-in over 3.2 million* units worldwide"
Definition of sell-in: "manufacturers' efforts to persuade retailers to distribute and stock their products"
vs if they had used the term "sell through": "In publishing, sell-through refers to a percentage of units shipped which are actually sold."
*not to take away from Origins success, I'm absolutely happy that it sold well but the 3.2 figure is the equivalent of ME2's 2 million one week figure.

To compare, how long was DA:O out when that number came in?

Well...that's just depressing. Sigh. I'm really starting to wish the story would be in a companion book so I could have the pleasure of the writing, but skip the game. That's really sad....Mike Laidlaw wrote...

But it's true, though. None of these so-called "leaked" videos continue into the real "world", it's all stopped after the exaggerated scenes. It's almost like these people are trying to make people nerdrage.
I think the problem is though that everyone thats disappointed in seeing the "exaggerated" gameplay have it regurgitated back to them that the "real" gameplay is vastly different. Maybe it is in the mechanics, but it'll look mostly the same, which will still leave people disappointed if they're thinking the exaggerated gameplay is night and day different than the "real" stuff.
No one dev side has said it's vastly different. It's different, but not vastly. Some may not love the new direction; we're very aware of that. But there are some that do.

Does it really matter? DA:O has Sold Through more copies. Hard to debate fact.

Shipped =! sold
EA Shipped out 2 million units that doesn't mean 2 million units were sold to gamers. Just that retail shops got 2 million copies of the game.

It does matter if the number is recent or not. If it came out when say... the game came out, I'd yield but if it's the number that came out say... two months ago then there's a different viewpoint.

I, for one, am pretty happy with how it looks. The combat in Origins was pretty tedious at times so This is definitly an improvement. As long as the story is good and the gameplay fun, count me in.
more power to ya:D
you might wanna equip a shield though as people who like the new direction are normally bashed on. good luck;)

Mike, I love the new direction. More for mage combat (unmodded Origins mage combat sucked), but I prefer the more interactive style of melee combat as well.

Gargh!, this is completely intolerable, I really liked the combat in Origins and now I hear that what we will see in Dragon Age II will be more akin to Dynasty. Not Impressed.
Dynasty is a gross exaggeration. Fable would be closer if you would pick anything. Edit: Even then, it is very different from Fable, just saying that it is closer to Fable than Dynasty, but whatever.
Dynasty Warriors, for those who haven't seen or played it: Remember the opening scenes to the Fellowship of the Ring movie? It showed Sauron come out with a huge mace and he swung it once, sending multiple soldiers flying and humans and elves were dying by the score? Now imagine your character is Sauron, and you are wiping out entire troops in a matter of moments. That is Dynasty Warriors, where you were truly an army of one.

So how many copies of ME2 have been sold since the 1.6M in the first week? How much did DAO sell in the first week?
