I recently transferred some content onto my Xbox 360 hard drive by using a USB memory storage device.
Before using it though, I transferred all of the contents of the USB onto another file just  in case something went wrong. Then I connected it through the Xbox 360 USB slot so I can transfer content from my old hard drive to my newly bought hard drive. After the transfer I removed it from my X360 and connected it to my computer to put back the files that were originally there in the first place. But when I drag and drop from the contents back up file to the removable disk a window pops up and reads "There is not enough space on the removable disk. You need an addition 712 MB to copy these files".

There is nothing in the folder of the removable disk other than the text "The folder is empty".
I connected the USB back to the X360 and deleted the content that I transferred to the hard drive but that content only had 50 MB. I don't understand how 50MB could affect a storage device that had 7GB of space to 250MB.

My understanding is that you have contents from your old Xbox HDD on your PC HDD that you transfer via USB flash drive to your new Xbox HDD. And now you want get your old contents back on your flash drive. Correct?

So what the Xbox 360 does is formats your flash drive when you first plug it in. That deletes all previous data on the flash drive and formats it so it can no longer be used as a normal flash drive but more as a external HDD for you Xbox. To undo this you plug in you flash drive to your PC.

Go to My Computer right click on the flash drive then click format. Then your PC will erase all content on your flash drive and format it so that it can be used normally again. Then you can copy the files back onto the flash drive before you used it for your Xbox file transfers.

Hope that helps, if I am misunderstanding something you said let me know. :)
