So you hate her because she is the only squadmate who won't fall to her knees, awed by your pure awesomeness?

That's totally what I meant dude. Because everyone else including Miranda at the beginning of the game is like "OMG YOU SO SPECIAL!" including one of my favorite characters Aria. She's totally fanning over Shep at the beginning of the game. Practically groveling at his feet.

Dude. People can decide that they don't like Jack. The world isn't ending because someone doesn't like a character you do.

Sure you can dislike her.  But we're just trying to get you to merely consider the notion that disliking her may not, by itself, be an adequate reason to want to get her killed.

Ah. True that. But in my Shep's case she's an unstable biotic who has already threatened to take over his ship once. He doesn't trust her. She also told him that she finds killing exciting and thrilling. He's not overly fond of risks. Given her previous aggression towards him, the fact that she openly dislikes Cerberus and the fact that she refuses to communicate with him he'd kick her off the ship (actually...he might actually kill her on his own. It depends on how much of a threat he feels she is to those around her.) I can't do that in game. (Of course he's not actually going to kill her there's just going to be an unfortunate accident in the CB :innocent: )

I'm amazed anyone can see this as confusing... Look at her personality and history. Isn't it obvious she would be like this? She's got hedgehog's dillema. If you've ever known people like her in real life, they tend to have a lot of heavy crap in their past, which explains it.

Nah it was just so bloody random. One moment she's all like "Yeah. Whatever" then "F*** OFF!" it threw me for a loop.

You could just not go down and talk to her, and then she won't tell you to F off.

To be honest all that talk is mostly bravado, defense mechanism given her history.  I'm not telling you should like her but there's a lot more to her if you give her a chance.

And Shep did nothing to her. Believe or not there's people that actually had that done to them that *gasps* Don't go around cursing everyone out!

Yeah, I'm still waiting for some actual evidence of this mysterious Person Who Was Horrifically Tormented, Tortured, and Raped But Came Out Healthy Respectful and Nice.

The fact that you have to romance Jack to see such is pretty damning to her character.

This is actually a pretty big tragedy, I agree. To see the best side of Jack you have to romance her.

...Right because every single human being reacts exactly the same to trauma. Every single survivor of the holocaust, the comfort women in wars all of them went berserk and attacked people. There are people who come out of it realtively adjusted (I consider those people far more survivers than someone like Jack who lets it rule over her whole life), there are some who block it out, there are some who kill themselves and their are some who take it out on the world. I'm not saying it wasn't realistic. I'm saying it was annoying.

And when did I say they were healthy, respectful and nice. I'd have been fine with Jack simply doing the "Yeah. Whatever." I"m not asking her to bow at my Shep's feet.

Granted: The whole being pumped up with drugs is more of a child soldier type thing. I've never heard stories of them recovering. Not saying they can't just I've never heard of it. That's another thing I don't like about Jack's character. It's just (personally) just too much wrong with her. It made her completely unappealing as an LI and since I can't befriend her I'm stuck in "****** off" mode.

So your logic is:

Aw. It's trying to be clever.

Also...when did I say I hated Jack? I said I disliked her.

We look at it and mistakenly think we're reacting differently to the same things, but the truth is that we're reacting differently to different things. Every experience is different.

Holocaust survivors? Your other examples? I'm going to bet they weren't tortured since infancy before any intelligent thought was given the chance to form. I'm also betting they weren't bred to believe violence was their life.

No they weren't. She is more akin to a child soldier than anything.

That said I get why she copes an attitude. I still don't have to like it or accept it.

...Why oh why couldn't she have been optional? all my problems with her would've gone away had she been optional. *sighs*

She's not even important to the plot like Mordin is. She could completely vanish and nothing in game would change.

...Is there any way at all to get Horizon/ReaperIFF to trigger without her on the Crew?

I said I didn't want her on my ship and sadly since she's not an optional recruit the only way to do that was to kill her.

Edit not to post I quoted: Why is paragon shep such a douche to Mordin on his loyalty mission? I mean...Jeez.

Thats hardly a decent justification.
I hate Miranda but I still don't kill her off.

Really? Miranda can be considered a threat to Shepard? Miranda threaten to take over the Normandy and insist you wouldn't be able to stop her? Is Miranda the one who goes barging in people's offices to threaten them over something other people did?

I really don't get why Miranda & Jack fans hate the opposite character so much even when Cerberus isn't involved. *facepalm*

Actually the funny thing is I think I'm warming up to Miranda...her intro still makes me sigh in exasperation though. "You want to stay with the mechs, be my guest..."

Uh...didn't you just finish saying how everyone was expendable except for Shep? *facepalms*

GodWood wrote...

Well...the reason my Shep would kill Jack is because he percieves her to be a threat to the stablility of his ship. Not out of some vindictive pleasure (canoically I pretend she was never recruited.) I mean...I never saw the practicality of recruiting her when there was Samara. Even without Samara my Shep saw Jack as just too much trouble. If TIM had told him before hand he'd have told TIM to save his money (or throw it Shep's way).

I hated Miranda before I even recruited Jack.
The fact that Jack hated Miranda too was just a bonus.

Some people don't care what's under the surface, or why.

Also it is not only easy to dislike someone for their outward behavior, but it feels good. Dislike is easy and it feels good.

I actually like having a squadmate that I can have conflict with.
Its much better then hating a character like Jacob just because he's....you know .....there?

All I'm gonna say is everyone needs to take a chill pill. This thread is going downhill. If you want to discuss about that scene, Ryzaki, hop into the Miranda thread. That one bugs me too.

I'm actually trying to take an active interest in Jack and see beyond her facade. Which is why I'm lurking in Jack threads. I doubt I'd ever be able to romance her, but I think she can make a potential buddy for my sheps, and yes a psychotic buddy at that. .

...Jacob has a bit of an snide attitude. I mean. All my Dude shep said was he was sour grapes over Miranda....:innocent:

But seriously...I wish BW hadn't made Jacob's lines sound so douchebaggery at times. (Tali and Thane's greetings for instance) as well as his "I'm not keen on forcing these talks."

That said I don't hate him. He's too boring to hate.
