 Hello,

There seems top be an odd bug in my Dragon Age. When I start a new game and go through the character creation I cannot  change the appearance of my character, in fact nothing at all appears where you usually see you preview character and the options you can change. I can still assign stats, skills, class, etc.. the problem is limited to appearance. When I actually start playing my character shows up as a generic guy with no hair and no beard or anything (not even the default model given by the game).

I have done a bunch of Google searches and browsed through this forum but have found nothing relating my problem. Has anyone experienced this? And does anyone know what to do about it?

Whats odd is that it used to work properly but then one day the problem came up. I think it happened after one day after a issue where many textures where replaced by pure black. I managed to fix the problem by starting a new game and then loading my previous game. Alas when I did this I was given no choice to select the appearance of a new character. Quite a bummer as I am wanting to play the Baldur's Gate 2 mod but would rather do it with a guy with some hair (preferably one that looks like the picture of Keldorn in BG2, which is what I used in my original play through of the game).

Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards

.

Through using a director command, either Google or Yahoo can be used to search here at the Social Forums. The same symptom you have had has happened before. Whether any of the previous incidences were ever resolved, I cannot recall.

I posed this selfsame question a while ago and got no help. Gorath tried but as this is not his cup o' tea he suggested I wait til the brainies got back... Still no solution. Gorath, how do I find my old post please? I got so upset at the lack of response that I went and played Morrowind & Oblivion again. Hopefully with more asking for the same help there might be a solution forthcoming. I dasn't hold my breath tho'.

Ok. So if you will recall Gorath, I mentioned re-installing the game to see if that would fix my problem. I did, & it has so far. I have reinstalled the 1.03 patch, Return to Ostagar, Dragon Armor, Warden's Keep, & Stone Prisoner DLC's. So far so good, I have my doll back. I am now going to load the dlc fan mods, then the file mods and will report back.

ps: tonight is a PnP play night, so it might be tomorrow.

On my 3rd reload. First time, installed the game again then installed the official DLC's then installed all the fan made dlc's and lost the doll. Installed the game again, installed the official DLC's then installed the fan made dlc's one by one. Found that the mod "personal"? (22kb's) was responsible. Installed again the game and the official DLC's and all the fan made dlc's except personal and was ok. Installed the override mods and...craaashhhh. Will try again.

Found a couple of add in mods that crashed the doll but were easy to fix as the files were all recognizable within the override file. I now have a configuration that I can be "satisfied" with playing. so as long as you're willing to spend the time and have the patience...

First suggestion is to start removing mods and see if it fixes the issue......likely a mod interference issue. I would start with the appearance mods or hope Sami Jo comes in and knows of one that does this.

Thanks, I'll try that, I did try re-installing the game it didnt make a diference, so how do I get rid of them, just delete the file?

Delete/move the file is the typical way. Moving it allows you to move it back easily if it isn't the problem rather than having to redownload/unpack again.

The thing that really makes me mad is that everything was working just fine till I wanted the Cleric class, and I put that in then I needed to get that stupid 1.04 patch for it >:(

First question is what version of the game you have (standard or UE). Sometimes mods can cause issues that require a reinstall. Second question is are you using a mod manager. Neither of the mod mangers that are out are compatible with patch 1.04. Override mods installed with them can have some odd issues. They still work fine with dazip mods and override mods can still be simply placed in the override folder with no issues. If you have not already, running one of the chargen XML generators again, even if you have done so before. Finally, a list of mods that you are using would be helpful.

Sadly, I'm guessing a reinstall is needed. You can save all of your characters and continue with them after reinstall.
