Hi everyone there. Im really pissed about this issue, because the first time, I thought the problem was my computer, but now, even with a good laptop, this doens´t work, no matter what I do.
Ok, I bought a copy of ME in the Steam, in spanish (Im in Spain). I have a Packard Bell TM with this features.
- i5 Core
- Intel HD Graphics
- 4GB Ram
- Windows 7 Home Premium 64bits
Of course, ME2 won´t run in this laptop, but it will do on my Ps3 soon. xD
When i run the game in Steam, it doesn´t work. When I go to the Mass Effect.exe, it doesn´t work. When I launch the game running the MassEffectConfig, it doesn´t work.
And yes, when I enter in Binaries//Mass Effect.exe, It doesn´t work. I´ve investigated in many post on this forum and Internet, but I can´t find a solid solution.
It seems it´s all about a XML problem, im not sure, but i have no idea on how im going to solve this. Please, help. I really want to play this game but im really crazy because this is a dead end.
Thanks everybody and sorry for my english in the case you find a big gramatic error.
ME doesn´t start on Steam

Oh yes, I forget it. Directx is updated, the same with the Intel HD´s drivers.

- Intel HD Graphics
Therein lies the problem. Sorry, but no PC that relies on integrated graphics, especially Intel graphics, can play games well. Even with the decent processor.

I don´t mind because, even with that problem the game should start.
In my PC, I have a Nvidia 7600GS, and yes, the main manual game says that it isn´t compatible. But I´ve seen some people have play it with it.
The only thing I want is to start the game, the rest is just my problem.

There are no guarantees when it comes to Intel integrated graphics. If everything else is right, then that integrated graphics chip is likely the source of the problem.
The nVidia 7600 may be below minimum requirements, but it still has the benefit of being a dedicated graphics card made by a company that actually designs chips made for games. Your laptop's integrated graphics, while newer, possesses neither of those key attributes.

I had issues on my old pc with the Intel intergrated graphics card. It gave me major issues back with things like Diablo 2 but again this was way back when lol. I run ME1 on Steam and it usually will do whatever patching is needed to get the game running. Is it giving any sort of errors while trying to run it? Or it does nothing? I'm wondering if this is similar to making KOTOR 2 run on vista and win 7. There were some issues with the game not running and it required some sort of patch file. Sorry for the rambling.

The desktop 7600 cards more or less straddled the 6800 Vanilla graphics card, with the 7600 GS being slower, and the 7600 GT being faster. When it comes to laptops, the producers tend to ignore the reference examples created by AMD and nVIDIA to go with the new chips' technical specifications' references. The reference cards tend to have "only " been down-rated approximately 10% of the performance offered by the matching desktop card.
Therefore, *IF* a laptop producer followed the specs closely, and the laptop card is a 7600 GT, it may not technically be that far below the minimum (beyond the fact that EA offers zero official support to laptops).
Last, the 7600 is a five year old video card, so the Intel chip is also that old, which probably moves it back in time to prior to any inclusion of hardware T&L.

Look this guy on Youtube:
I wonder him about Mass Effect running on my laptop. This is the answer:
Yeah!
Its playable with Ultra HIgh Setting!
-----------------------------------
He has made many video about how some games run on Intel HD as you can see.
Ok, maybe he´s lying. But my problem is just run the game, im just crazy about it. He told that I must update the driver. I´ll try.

@tallon1982: O_o KOTOR 2 works fine for me on Win7 without any kind of patch file.
@Gorath: That may be true for higher-end laptop cards vs higher-end desktop cards, but the business-level laptop Radeon 5470 and 5450 are actually clocked higher than the desktop 5450. Just sayin'.

Anyone who has ever paid much attention to my various add-on graphics card shader rankings already knows that I ignore the business level video hardware from the current two or three generations, whether we're talking about a game with a decent engine, or even the awful Gamebryo used for Oblivion, Fallout 3, and now Fallout NV.

I understand that. I don't agree with such an approach, since I can play ME2 & DA:O on my Mobility Radeon 5470 well enough in 1366x768, but I suppose I just have lower standards.
