So, in this USA-Today exclusive comic, apparently Udina tries to have Pallin removed from office like the slimeball we all knew he was, using Captain Bailey as his unwitting middleman. Apparently whatever is on that Datapad is something incredibly damning, which results in Pallin having (supposedly) killed two other officers, and then tries to attack Bailey who (appears to) fatally wound Pallin with a gunshot. Udina makes Bailey the new head of C-Sec.
First off, the art is terrible. Pallin looks wrong, Bailey looks wrong, Udina looks weird too. This is really shoddy work if you ask me.
Secondly, the plot is nonsensical. I realize that most people have focused in solely on the fact that this comic tells us what we already knew from Retribution, Udina is now the Council representative for humanity. But what's worse is this Ass-Pull plot regarding Pallin's alleged corruption. Even assuming it's accurate, it's a poorly executed story. There's barely any plot-hook or lead-in. We only saw Pallin around for ME1 where he established himself, then he was a driving force in Retribution where he helped essentially remove Cerberus from the Citadel.
...And then suddenly he's implicated in some scandal that results in him seemingly getting shot and killed by Bailey and acting highly suspicious about whatever's on the pad, a complete 180 of his original character. While admittedly Pallin didn't get much screen-time, this feels like a cheap and senseless way to remove a canon character. And HOW are they going to tie this in to ME3? I'm wondering as to the canoncity of the comic, but given that ALL the others so far fit with established canon...
I'm sorry Mac, but this is terrible. Bad enough your artists can't seem to draw proper turians (That looks more like Councilor Velarn than Executor Pallin...), it seems that the Turians in general are getting whatever rep they had pounded into the dust...and with the upcoming comic about TIM and the First Contact war?
Ugh.
