Favourite drink: palinka and absinthe prepared the French way.
As for beer I drink ale or stout. I drink lager rarely.

Well it'd be easier to list what I don't drink: herbal based liquor (like Jaeger, tequila)

Absinthe is derived from herbs...

16 year old Lagavulin with one ice cube. (Single malt scotch for those unfamiliar with it)
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
Never, ever put ice in good single malt scotch! That's a cardinal sin, which will quite possibly earn you an extra red hot poker in certain orifice, inserted by the god of whiskey in the afterlife!
Seriously, what ice does to whiskey is kill the taste, which isn't necessary or desireable when the whiskey is a good one; only add ice to whiskey when it's some cheap blended whiskey that tastes like turpentine.
With 16 year old Lagavulin - a wonderful single malt - you don't want to cool it, quite the opposite, you want it warm, to get the full aroma. This means drinking it from a thin glass that you can warm in your hands. Optionally, you may add a few drops of (warm) water - no more than a few drops though, the idea isn't to dilute the whiskey.
Try it - warm the whiskey, then take a sip, and after you swallow, blow air through your nose. (That enhances the aftertaste). You'll never want to have to even THINK of single malt scotch and ice in the same sentence.
My favorite drink: Laphroaig 15 y.o. single malt scotch. (From the same region as Lagavulin, also smoky) Warm. Dare to put ice in mine, and I might just kick you in the nuts.

Tried it. Sorry, but I prefer it with a bit of ice (we're talking a small cube here, not your standard big chunk from the cube tray). And you do need water to relesae the flavor.
Laphroig is another fine whiskey. I also enjoy Ardbeg and the Talisker.

At the ice thing:
It is a fact though that if you cool the whiskey, you get less flavor, which is why ice is absolutely avoided by most single malt Scotch afficionados. To each their own, I guess.
Releasing the flavor works with a few drops of water, OR by warming the liquid. Both tend to produce the same result of bringing out the flavor, as much as cooling the liquid produces the opposite effect. Good single malt should be drunk much like cognac, and discerning whiskey establishments often serve it in a cognac glass.
Ardbeg is a fine whiskey too, and Talisker is nice, though it's not an Islay whiskey - I tend to prefer the smokiness of Islay malts. Though out of the Islay malts, I have to say that I'm not a big fan of Caol Ila - that has a pretty strong salty taste that I don't particularly care for.

To the bod that puts ice in his malt, save yourself some cash and buy a blend

Cosmopolitan
Dry Red or White Wines (I hate sweet wines)
Magner's Hard Cider
Guinness
I am not a fan of whiskey, scotch, tequila, gin and I don't drink rum often. I dislike almost all beer as well.

Absinthe is derived from herbs...
Not loads of herbs, like Jaeger, Becherovka, Hubertus
Żubrówka contains herb aswell, and it's good.
Don't be picky! 90% of them I won't stomach for enjoyement.
