Hi all

Appreciate it if anyone could help me out.
I installed the retail version of ME on WIN7 but got a config error on startup, so I installed the patch 1.01 .This got rid of the config error and I could to the first menu selection screen where I could then select "play" , after that I presume the splash screen should appear and the game will load, but all that happens is the WIN7 wheel turns for about 10 seconds and after that  it stops and the game doesn't load. I have uninstalled and installed it several times and also tried the 1.02 patch but each time the result is the same. I also turned off the firewall and start as administrator.
I have an i3 cpu , radeon 5750 card with the most recent drivers, 4gb mem, ,WIN7 home premium 32bit.
Please help as I really want to play this game and then go onto ME2.

The 1.02 patch should do it. You could perhaps try Windows XP compatibility mode on the program, and also ensuring your config files are reset by deleting them in your Bioware/Mass Effect/Config directory which you'll find in the 'Documents' library in Win7. Initially I could not start ME1 in Win7 64pro either, but the patch did rectify the situation for me.

You may also wish to ensure your DirectX 9 installation is correctly set up on Windows 7 -- as Win7 can use DX10+ and DX9 side by side and older games will generally behave a bit better with DX9 in my experience.

Thanks for the input eshrafel. I have already tried the things that you mentioned but it did not help.

I have now decided to install the game on a separate hard disk with XP os.
