I just want to know what kind of armor will be availbe to rogues. I usually like playing dual wielding warriors, with heavy armor. But I'll be perfectly happy if the rogues can wear armor like the scale armor in Origins. I just want something a bit tougher than leather.

Huh? I wasn't saying that DA:2's animations were realistic. Just that DA:Os had problems on the opposite end of believability. Too slow is not better than too fast. They're both annoying in their own way.

Edit: Just to be clear, I am basically slightly annoyed by most animations based on real life actions that aren't motion captured by real life people.  Even the tiny soldiers in the Total War games - at least the newish ones - are motion captured.  And they're thousands of tiny people.  Can I get something like that in my RPGs?

I will say, alot of things in that preview do look and sound cool. The Isabella thing is weird, but whatever. She was minor but memorable and I prefer the new look, so no sweat. The teleporting thing bugs me, though. Is it supposed be like Stealth, where you're not really "invisible", it's just a visual shortcut? Or are we supposed to suspend our disbelief to the point that non-Mage, non-Specialized characters can train themselves to defy the laws of space and time? Either way, it's kind of dumb... especially since Rogues don't even "properly" backstab anymore.

I am also glad to see that Bioware is sticking to it's "all bisexual characters are sneaky rogues with criminal backgrounds" policy.

If we've got a duellist specialisation, it would be nice to have a rapier/dagger combo available. Dual daggers doesn't seem particularly duellisty to me.

Agreed, I hope hope hope rogues can use 1 handed swords.

As for the speciliasations its interesting that people are mentioning the fact that ranger isn't mentioned but not Bard, I hope both are still there. I liked Legionaire Scout as well but expected it to be cut cause it veers too closely to a warrior spec.

Noticed the lack but i guess there can't be much said about the cuts rather than "it sucks" so well... didn't think there'd be point in mentioning it.

regarding the sword use: from the dev answer thread, technically rogues are supposed to use "dual wield combat style" weapons, and how exactly individual items assigned to this style look like is up to the art department. So they can give these weapons whatever mesh they feel like it. If there will be such weapons that look like 1h swords, we have to wait and see.

I usually tend to play as roque whenever possible and I can already say that this game is not going to be exception. Interesting choice to bring Isabela from Origins, interesting but not bad. Specializations sound good an very roque'ish :)

Obviously I can't wait to hear about the mage class, but this info was still quite good. As for Isabela, I look forward to travelling with her!

Assasin, shadow, and duelist? I can't summon beasties as a ranger anymore? But I liked having a completely nonsensical bear come to my calling in the deep roads D=.

Ah well, the other three are fun too.

Interesting considering the fact it will be my first class I'll be playing. I wonder if the staff or Parthalan works only for warrior and mage or also for rogue, though it doesn't seems likely for a rogue.

I like the new Isabela.  She actually dresses like a pirate now.  I wasn't completely attached to her appearance since she was only had a brief role in Origins.

It's pretty cool that at least one of the companions is someone that we've already met.  All I can say is, I'm ready for this game now!

You can see her in the gallery accessible from the article. It's bit older shot but i doubt it changed very much.

What do you mean? She's been revealed for a little while now. Well before today.

EDIT: curse your ninjary ways, tmp

Also, am I seriously the only one who finds the teleporting extremely odd and out of place?

Here here!  Except we want Hawkette, not this Lady Hawke business.  The article does indeed require some pics.

Yeah, I thought from the preview that there was something new that I hadn't seen before.  I've already seen those pics, so I didn't think a preview would mention something that was already covered.

The part that really makes me exciting is 'Lady Hawke Is Hawt'.
Since i always play female characters (as in Dragon age and Mass Effect series), I'm definitely going for female Hawke in DA2.
Can't wait to see her and hear her voiceeeeee in game :o

Lady Hawke is mad hotness. First character in any game that I haven't wanted to change at all. =)

Well, we already had Flicker in Awakening and no one seemed to mind.

Someone elsewhere (I can't remember which thread it was in) explained it really well: it, like so many other visual effects tied to abilities, only offers a representation of what is actually going on. When you have momentum going, there aren't really blue outlines emanating from your body. Here, you're not actually teleporting, but it's showing that your enemies are losing track of you only to have you pop up behind them and ruin their day.

Yeah, I get that rationale, but I honestly hated those sorts of effects in Awakening. Especially in Awakening as they were totally over the top and distracting there- I mean come on, massacre causes my warrior to seemingly yell really loud and cause a shockwave to come out and kill everyone? Huh?

The simple ones like shield bash are the best, not overly abstract ones like the bard abilities that give you magic sparkle dust.:pinched:

For what it's worth, I agree with you. The simpler and more practical the "effects" the better, I thought.

But in this case, it would look really weird if Hawke just ran really fast and turned around, not to mention the timing issues it might cause.
