Edit: Just to be clear, I am basically slightly annoyed by most animations based on real life actions that aren't motion captured by real life people. Even the tiny soldiers in the Total War games - at least the newish ones - are motion captured. And they're thousands of tiny people. Can I get something like that in my RPGs?

I am also glad to see that Bioware is sticking to it's "all bisexual characters are sneaky rogues with criminal backgrounds" policy.

If we've got a duellist specialisation, it would be nice to have a rapier/dagger combo available. Dual daggers doesn't seem particularly duellisty to me.
Agreed, I hope hope hope rogues can use 1 handed swords.
As for the speciliasations its interesting that people are mentioning the fact that ranger isn't mentioned but not Bard, I hope both are still there. I liked Legionaire Scout as well but expected it to be cut cause it veers too closely to a warrior spec.

Noticed the lack but i guess there can't be much said about the cuts rather than "it sucks" so well... didn't think there'd be point in mentioning it.Morroian wrote...

regarding the sword use: from the dev answer thread, technically rogues are supposed to use "dual wield combat style" weapons, and how exactly individual items assigned to this style look like is up to the art department. So they can give these weapons whatever mesh they feel like it. If there will be such weapons that look like 1h swords, we have to wait and see.

It's pretty cool that at least one of the companions is someone that we've already met. All I can say is, I'm ready for this game now!

You can see her in the gallery accessible from the article. It's bit older shot but i doubt it changed very much.Lilacs wrote...

What do you mean? She's been revealed for a little while now. Well before today.

EDIT: curse your ninjary ways, tmp
Also, am I seriously the only one who finds the teleporting extremely odd and out of place?

Here here! Except we want Hawkette, not this Lady Hawke business. The article does indeed require some pics.

Yeah, I thought from the preview that there was something new that I hadn't seen before. I've already seen those pics, so I didn't think a preview would mention something that was already covered.

Since i always play female characters (as in Dragon age and Mass Effect series), I'm definitely going for female Hawke in DA2.
Can't wait to see her and hear her voiceeeeee in game

Someone elsewhere (I can't remember which thread it was in) explained it really well: it, like so many other visual effects tied to abilities, only offers a representation of what is actually going on. When you have momentum going, there aren't really blue outlines emanating from your body. Here, you're not actually teleporting, but it's showing that your enemies are losing track of you only to have you pop up behind them and ruin their day.

Yeah, I get that rationale, but I honestly hated those sorts of effects in Awakening. Especially in Awakening as they were totally over the top and distracting there- I mean come on, massacre causes my warrior to seemingly yell really loud and cause a shockwave to come out and kill everyone? Huh?
The simple ones like shield bash are the best, not overly abstract ones like the bard abilities that give you magic sparkle dust.

For what it's worth, I agree with you. The simpler and more practical the "effects" the better, I thought.Brockololly wrote...

But in this case, it would look really weird if Hawke just ran really fast and turned around, not to mention the timing issues it might cause.
