This has been asked but not answered (I think), so I'll ask again. Is the companion's armor and weaponry eligible?

We don't have any official intel on this, but it has already been confirmed that inventory is in, so I would assume that we still get to change gear on Hawke and companions.

Secondly,
although it's a good trailer, I would not classify this as a "gameplay"
trailer. It's just a montage of various in-game scenes and actions,
which is pretty much what I was expecting would be done. This still
doesn't give PC players any idea how the game will actually play, and
for those of us who are classic RTS fans (i.e. BG2 & NWN), it
doesn't allay our fears.

My question is, with the dialogue wheel, are you going to know the difference? For instance, is there going to be a "disagree- snarky/ childish" or "disagree politely" indicator?shepard_lives wrote...
Or, you will have the possibility of disagreeing with your companions without having to be a childish douchebag about it. Also, what makes you think that being nice to them will always increase their approval? One word: Sten.
What do you mean? She was light skinned in DA:O, and she is here. She's Nevarren (sp?) and they aren't dark skinned. If she was darker in the first trailer (can't remember), well, I'm pretty sure it was outsourced, so that doesn't mean much.tmp7704 wrote...
I can see Varric have this effect on people. They go grey and tear their hair out.Anarya wrote...
What's up with Cassandra's hair??
Turning Isabela into a white girl for the wallpaper, rather iffy. In the sense they're opening up themselves to racial discussion/controversy that could well be avoided if things were just kept consistent.
Cassandra's voice is nice.
Interesting, one of the qunari seems to be wielding a polearm and i thought they said there isn't going to be any such weapons in DA2. Though maybe it's just "appearance skin" and the thing is used just like 2h axe or smth.

Ok, so is the approval system still -100 to +100 then? I'm just thinking for example, in Origins, my Warden got a bunch of negative approval from Morrigan at the start, but as the game progressed, it was more often than not positive approval. What I'm wondering is that if say, getting to -10 or -20 hits some trigger that starts a rivalry, at which point it would be impossible, given the limited number of dialogue opportunities or gifts, to be able to turn that relationship into a friendship through the natural course of conversation and so on?

So, if you max out someone's rival/friendship it won't matter what you do, they'll still be friendly/rival? So if Leliana was maxed out friendly in the new system, it wouldn't matter if you defiled the Ashes, she'd still be friends with you?

Sorry, I should have been more specific. What actually worries me is: Does the companion looks actually change when equipping new armor? Varric and Isabela clothes look too "personalized".

I hope the combination of symbols, paraphrases and the dev team learning from the mistakes of ME (I know they're not the same team, but still) will be enough to allow players to use the wheel without fear of screwing up or breaking character. I hope...
It can really depends on the exact nature of the relationship -- if the companion is sticking with you because they happen to like you on the gut level but they're otherwise infuriated over your preference for red rather than blue, then once they come to appreciate red themselves there isn't really much left for them to be angry over, is there?MoneyDeluxe wrote...
A companion coming to respect the point of view of your Hawke and abiding by that does not have to mean that they particularly like you for it.So you probaly won't have friendly evening chatter over a beer or two I reckon;)

I'm guessing (?) thats where the quality of the paraphrases would come in. Because I agree completely- just because you pick the sarcastic or aggressive icon, those can mean waaaay different things: are you screaming and ranting aggressive or passive aggressively aggressive? Are you acting like a slapstick comedian sarcastic or a more jerk face insensitive sarcastic?Addai67 wrote...

Since it was confirmed inventory system isn't being changed i.e. all gear slots and such remain as they were in DAO, i suspect it'll work similar how in DAO you'd have Morrigan with her customized robe, that didn't prevent you from putting different clothes on her and customizing her look.Xewaka wrote...

Does that apply to all companions? I can't imagine my blood mage convincing Wynne to convert to apostasy very easily.
There is a rivalry path for all characters, yes. And by "convince them to change" I don't mean you can convince them of anything... rather you might be able to convince them to change regarding their central "issue". If Morrigan had a rivalry path, for instance, it might revolve around you telling her that helping people can be a way to get what she wants, and thus afterwards she wouldn't complain whenever you went out of your way to help people. She would still have the same personality and outlook on life.
Indeed, thanks for catching that. I edited the correction.Xewaka wrote...

I think you mean RPGs there.
No, it was confirmed in this very thread by Mr.Gaider ( http://social.biowar...04701/2#5104948 ) that Isabela is Rivaini and dark-skinned, just like she was in DAO. She is also dark-skinned in DA2, in this freshly released trailer and in available additional screenshots. Except on the official wallpaper http://dragonage.bio...om/da2/gallery/ where she's regular white chick to a degree that goes well beyond what could be explained just by the white background etc.errant_knight wrote...
