Fine, it had no value to me. Or, alternately, it had no value in terms of showing us gameplay.Maverick827 wrote...
Surely hearing Varric's and Cassandra's voice, seeing the new Templar armor design, seeing the new Isabela, and knowing that Carver can survive are "valuable" to some people, no?
Or is that just you projecting your opinions as facts again?
I don't even know who Carver is, but it sounds like the trailer actually contains a spoiler about him (or her - I really have no idea who Carver is). I can't speak to that, though, because to avoid spoilers I actually watched the video with the sound off.

So it's like the romance/friendship thing except in reverse? That sound AWESOME!!shepard_lives wrote...
You can be a complete **** to your companions and get bonuses and new dialogue for it.
Essentially what it boils down to is this: in Origins if you didn't get along with a companion you got nothing. No dialogue, no interaction and no gameplay benefits. So what we've done is added a "rivalry path" which is the friendship path in reverse. As approval goes down you get interactions where you argue with the companion, and this is the path where you could ultimately convince them they need to change.
Thus taking a stance with a companion that is argumentative is a legitimate way to develop your relationship with them, and there's no need to hunt for the approval bonuses in every instance.

We see quite a few combat animations. Mostly with Hawke, but one or two with Isabela.Sylvius the Mad wrote...

And Carver being present in the trailer isn't really a spoiler if you don't even know who he is.

one thing i'm worried about is that how detailed some companions outfits are, varric's coat, isabela's attire, etc... in the way that maybe that those are their fixed appearances (like in ME2 you couldn't change a companion's armor). i hope i'm wrong though.
Agreed errant. It would be a shame if that is the case. I like Isabela's jewelry, her gypsy look, but there has to be more outfits for the Companions to change into.

Am I the only one who sees next to none gameplay in this?
Most of the fighting near the end are gameplay bits.

Also looks pretty much a 2H warrior with a definite herpaderp deficit here, Hawke's skin tone looks closer to Isabela here than his own brother although that may be a lighting issue.

Oh, camera wise they probably went with locked angles to make it appear better. However, it's not any different from the Origin trailers that went with other angles. Watch the Mage Origin trailer for example.

They won't. Have you ever seen a gameplay trailer in your life? They always go for the cinematic angles rather than the normal gameplay view.Sylvius the Mad wrote...

I thought the same, then I remembered some of the Bethany's shots. We have some shots with her on different clothes, some with a robe and some with a "normal" cloth.
I don't think Bioware would go too far and completely remove the ability to change companions armor.
I think those outfits we see are just default outfits, like Morrigan.
A Dev. clarification would be much appreciated.
Great trailer btw, the game looks nice in motion.

The Game looks GREAT!, i LOVED Dragon Age:Origins...(despite more bugs than any game i have ever played) But Dragon Age 2 is looking oh so much better, and i don't understand what peeps are talkin about i think Issabela looks gorgeous.
Ditto.
To me, her character model has a kind of southern 'Greek' charm. Rather fitting for the setting of the game, I'd say.
I also love the music. From what I'm hearing, Inon Zur really outdid himself in this sequel.
